I work with adults and youth who have experienced trauma (physical/sexual/emotional abuse , attachment disruption, domestic violence , divorce), grief/loss, depression, anxiety and women's issues (infertility, body image , life transitions).
We all have challenges and experiences throughout our life span that can cause pain, frustration, feeling stuck and other difficult emotions. These experiences can result in us becoming disconnected with our true selves and unable to live life to the fullest. I am here to help you connect with your true self so that you can not only heal from difficult experiences but grow from them and create a sense of empowerment. I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment offering a highly personalized approach tailored to each individual's needs.

Therapy can help you find balance, connection, and fulfillment. In order to do so, I believe it's important that we acknowledge the shadow elements of life-the challenges that cause us pain, confusion, and block us from finding a sense of harmony and well-being. I collaborate with you in navigating the shadows and the more buried aspects of your life in order to develop a deeper capacity for balance, personal growth, and healing. I specialize in helping women with depression, anxiety or abuse to find their strength again.
I know you want your child to be happy and successful and are doing your best to help him. You'd like to have less arguing and enjoy your family more. Parenting is such a hard job. It can really help to have someone with experience to look at your situation from the outside. I believe you have what it takes to improve your family relationships, but you could use a guide. Your child may need to learn how to cope with new situations. I would like to help you to bring out the strengths in yourself and your family.

My areas of specialty include working with victims of trauma and abuse , who experience anxiety and depression.
Sometimes life gets overwhelming and the light at the end of the tunnel gets dim. I've been there and I know that at those times a little help can go a long way to put things back together again, to get a better perspective and/or to make necessary changes to get closer to that light again.

I work with depression, bipolar disorder, panic disorder, ADHD, grief and recovery from abuse .
There comes a time when we need help. I appreciate the courage anyone demonstrates when they make that call. I hope to create a space where individuals and families can receive that trusted assistance. I have been a therapist for thirty years. I was a tennis pro for ten years before that. I am aware of the process of change. There is a timing when an individual, or family, is ready to make those adjustments. In working with children, I involve the whole family. I especially enjoy the travels that the adolescent makes, and the perplexing attempts parents make in adjusting to this challenging phase. I work with addictions.

Whether you're needing guidance with personal boundaries, in a transitional life phase, recent or historic trauma, intimate partner violence , parenting, blended family dynamics, divorce, abandonment, or other needs that you currently feel stuck working through give me a call and we can unravel things together.
Most clients come to therapy when other things they've tried are no longer working. Whether it's the frustration of work and career, difficult familial connections, friendships or intimate relationships that feel less than satisfying. Issues around speaking up, feeling heard, respected emotionally are often some of the goals dear to our hearts, but also seem so out of reach. Most of us want to feel heard and as though we matter. Our futures are full of hope and opportunity, but getting there can also seem daunting. What is keeping you from achieving your beautiful life?

Life at times can be challenging, be that from depression, anxiety, difficult relationships, abuse , aging, work, chronic health problems, co-dependency, low self-esteem, grief, to our own destructive behaviors we can't seem to change. I have experience working with all of these, but helping those going through major life transitions, stress, feeling overwhelmed, and co-parenting after divorce or separation are some of my specialties. I like working with clients who are seeking change and ready to embrace the process of self-exploration and healthy alignment to reduce inner conflict and learn new ways of being in this world.

It’s hard to stop drinking, dieting, bingeing, splurging, and giving away all your time and energy. I get the battle! I know the internal struggle that you wish would just stop! Because I’ve lived it! I have walked the journey. My story is more than 30 years long and is filled with languishing in control needs, trauma, chemical substance abuse , dependence, eating disorders, body dysmorphia, abandonment issues, anxiety, and so much more! My addictions were far more involved than the narrow perspective society holds; it wasn't simply chemical in nature.

Domestic Abuse Therapists

What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?

Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?

Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?

Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?

It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
