Many people come to me wondering why they're unhappy, anxious, or unable to find fulfillment. The problem may seem obvious but a solution impossible. The same painful experiences repeat themselves, but why? And how to change them? If we meet, I will work together to discover how you can come to grips with whatever is troubling you. In doing so, you may discover, as sometimes happens, that there are ways to experience yourself and others that are genuinely different from what you've known thus far.

Getting knocked down in life is inevitable. Pain, disappointment, and uncertainty are part of the human experience, and avoiding discomfort often comes at the cost of living fully. Together, we will explore the thoughts, emotions, and patterns that influence your life, helping you build a stronger foundation for lasting change. Growth begins when we are willing to face what we've been carrying rather than running from it. I offer a space to slow down, reflect honestly, and move forward with greater clarity, resilience, and purpose. Trust the process, and the results will follow.

You are a highly motivated, hard-working, and responsible person. You value your relationships and achieving your goals. However, your anxiety often keeps you from taking the necessary steps to do the things that are important to you. You have spent so long fighting and struggling to feel better that you feel completely out of control in your life and with your emotions. You are exhausted, overwhelmed, and are ready to stop struggling and start living the life you imagined for yourself. You have tried everything under the sun to manage your anxiety but it only brings temporary relief. You are ready for lasting change.

Are you feeling anxious or overwhelmed? Have you tried everything you can think of to solve the problem, change your circumstances, or just feel better on your own? If you're deep in the mire of anxiety and depression, trying to make a positive change, or just barely managing to make it through the day, it can be tough to think that things could be different. You can feel frustrated, disconnected, and stuck. Getting the right support can be the ticket to moving out of being stuck and taking steps toward living the life you'd like to be living.

Somatic Experiencing (SE) takes healing to a deeper level. Combined with 'top-down' approaches, SE helps identify strengths and intentions beneath painful survival patterns. Shame, fear and anger transform into vital life energy. Surviving becomes thriving. As a private practice psychotherapist based in SF & Marin for several years, I was fortunate to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds. During the pandemic, my practice shifted to primarily virtual.

It's exhausting, but you don't really know how to relax and probably don't sleep welll.
I get it because I've been there. I've helped hundreds of anxious perfectionists feel like they can breathe again. I aim for the root of anxiety, perfectionism, & chronic guilt with tools I've honed over 7 years of practice. I blend art therapy, parts work, & other therapy techniques to help you feel unburdened, deeply rested, and unapologetically joyful.

It’s hard to feel like yourself when you’re stressed, exhausted, and haven't had a decent night's sleep in weeks.
I use a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Solution-Focused strategies. In simple terms, this means we’ll look at: - the thoughts and behaviors that disrupt sleep and well-being - deeper emotional patterns that may be driving stress or reactivity - practical steps you can take right away to feel more grounded.

Those modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), CBT-I for insomnia, CBT-N for nightmares, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
It’s hard right now—that’s why you’re here, reading through profiles and looking for someone who might be able to help. I know it can feel overwhelming because I’ve been there too. I take a humanistic, person-centered approach to therapy, grounded in the belief that every individual has the capacity for growth, healing, and meaningful change. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you will feel heard, respected, and empowered to explore your experiences and reconnect with your values. While the therapeutic relationship is central to my work, I also incorporate evidence-based modalities.

How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
