My name is McKenna Talley and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been providing mental health services for over a decade and I have been absolutely loving it. As a young adult, I had plans of making it on Broadway as an actress. My love for theater has stuck around, but over time I realized that I like helping real people recognize the role they play in their life is the greatest part they could ever have. Nothing speaks to my soul more than connecting to people and helping them find their main character energy. Life can be hard and I like to help people be their biggest fan rather than their biggest critic.

You may appear high-functioning on the outside, yet internally feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or quietly stuck. Many of the women I work with are navigating burnout, perfectionism, identity shifts, or the emotional weight of fertility and reproductive challenges. You’re capable, thoughtful, and used to carrying a lot for others, and you might be at a point where this doesn’t feel sustainable anymore. You want more than coping- you’re seeking clarity, steadiness, and a way to feel more at ease in your own mind and body.

I work with a variety of issues, but I specialize in treating anxiety and the struggles associated with infertility.
I'm a great listener, I'm very curious and I have a strong sense of empathy. I offer reflections and suggestions to help you see things from a new angle and encourage you to make positive, subtle changes outside the therapy room. I also like to weave in some body-awareness throughout our work which can help unlock deeper knowing and stuck patterns.

My job is to help you find a stronger connection to your preferred self, and help you untangle from the habits that get in the way of you being more comfortable in your own skin.

Sometimes, when we hear the call of fate, we listen with an inner ear for quiet whispers of the soul. This call arrives in many forms. My consultation practice brings together Jungian analysis with expressive arts therapy. I offer a safe place for you to recognize your unique identity. In our work together, we will follow the varied threads of your story so you can weave and shape your own destiny. My approach uses verbal and non-verbal methods, encouraging spontaneity and the healing influence of the imagination. These sensorial processes lead to an aesthetic and spiritual understanding of soul.

Seeking support can feel vulnerable – especially when the culture around us glorifies “self-made” success stories and aspires to a seemingly effortless, perfectly curated social media existence. The reality of course is that life is messy, transitions are hard, and that we all benefit from support. We are impacted by world events, our environments, relationships, the histories of our people (our families, ancestors, communities), and our own unique collection of lived experiences. As a therapist I view my role as that of an ally, confidant, collaborator, collector of resources - and very occasionally a guide.

Clients often come to therapy with a presenting problem and no solution in sight. They may think there is an “easy fix” that a therapist can give them so that they can move forward. In actuality, the problem may be a symptom of an underlying issue stemming from a multitude of sources: their family of origin, trauma, attachment style, adverse childhood experiences, or something else.

We all have difficulties in living. Problems of self esteem often underlie these difficulties. Resulting depression and anxiety, compulsive behaviors such as overeating, overspending, alcohol abuse and unhappy, frustrating relationship choices, can be changed. My style of working has developed over many years of practice and is interactive. Clients would most likely describe me as warm, and responsive. While serious in my work I have a good sense of humor; which I believe is essential for a productive, happy life.

Infertility Therapists
How can infertility affect couples and their relationship?
Clients who are dealing with infertility may experience conflict and communication problems. It’s not unusual for shame, blame, and guilt to arise in cases of infertility, whether the source of the problem is one partner or both. This means that clients are upset and pulling away from their partner just when they need them the most. Some clients may find it difficult to spend time around friends and family who are pregnant. Friends and family can also make hurtful comments that increase tension during this time.

How does therapy for infertility issues work?
The therapist will begin by gathering information about the client or couple and make a treatment plan for their specific concerns. In addition to addressing common mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma reactions or PTSD, therapists can help clients improve their decision-making and deal with stressors unique to infertility. Some examples include coping with the “two-week wait” before a pregnancy test, the distress associated with a failed attempt or miscarriage, and the shame and blame sometimes associated with reproductive concerns.

What type of therapy is best for infertility issues?
Many therapists offer psychotherapy for individuals and couples who are dealing with infertility issues. Some helpful therapeutic approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which can aid clients in reframing negative thoughts about their situation. Expressive writing and art therapy can help clients process difficult feelings. Clients might also benefit from group therapy to experience support from others who are dealing with the same problems.

How long does therapy for infertility issues take?
There is no set length for therapy that addresses infertility or reproductive concerns. Some clients might find it helpful to continue therapy during their pregnancy to have healthy ways to cope with any associated stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma. Some clients who decide not to pursue fertility treatments might benefit from the support of a therapist. The duration of therapy varies depending on the individual client’s specific needs and goals.
