My ideal client is queer and transgender, seeking either individual support or a container for a relationship, navigating healing attachment wounding while showing up for abolition in an actively harmful world. They would like support and loving witnessing in a deep-dive self-discovery of their inner workings while tending to relationships. Their goal is to take back their power in order to live a meaningful honest life of integrity with communities and relationships built in sincerity and authenticity. They want therapy as a space that will safely support that transformation in whatever form or stage it is currently at.

I can help you to listen deeply to yourself, to learn to treat yourself kindly and with a keen ear for what is most important for being your fullest self. You don't have to be ruled by self-criticism, fear or past hurts. I also offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), which can expedite results beyond what's possible in talk therapy alone. KAP brings shifts in perspective that can be anchored and implemented towards lasting change. If you are struggling with painful thoughts, memories, sense of self, life choices, or relationships, I can help you find greater clarity and choices that support you to be your most authentic self.

We live in a time and globalized culture in which we very often feel separate, disconnected, alone, confused, and misunderstood. Together, we can relearn a sense of belonging—belonging in our bodies, belonging with other beings, belonging to this earth. I believe that therapy is a space for deep listening and reflection, a place to cultivate a sense of relational safety, and a container in which we have the privilege to explore what makes you feel alive and purposeful.

You’ve done the work—read the books, listened to the podcasts, and shown up to therapy—but something still isn’t shifting. Between sessions, it can feel like you’re just getting through the week. Your relationships are impacted. You feel triggered by things you thought you had already worked through. And despite your insight, the same patterns, reactions, and negative self-talk keep resurfacing. This is where a different approach can help. I specialize in Brainspotting Intensives—a focused, neuroscience-based method designed to access and process trauma at a deeper, subcortical level.

Psychedelic assisted therapy has been on your mind for a while now. You want to see if the amazing results that John Hopkins, Yale, Columbia and many others have been researching can manifest in your life. Now is as good as a time as any to make major moves toward the breaking through you have been looking for. We work with individuals who are looking to address long-standing depression and PTSD with Ketamine Assisted Therapy. I know it feels like a lot and you don’t know how this will work but we can work to make it better.

I work with adults, couples, and adolescents who are interested in more depth-oriented therapy. Many are thoughtful and curious about themselves but feel stuck in patterns in their relationships or overwhelmed by anxiety. Others are trying to understand how earlier experiences or trauma may continue to shape their lives. Together, we create space to slow down, reflect, and deepen understanding so that these patterns can begin to shift over time.

Sometimes it is helpful to think of therapy as a journey. Imagine your psyche as an inner landscape, one that is as unique and as complex as you are. You know this landscape better than anyone. In it there are familiar places, beautiful places, frightening places, mysterious places. Perhaps there is a specific place you’d like to find on your journey, one that is both safe and exciting. Or maybe there is an unpleasant place you find yourself in, again and again, despite your best efforts to leave. Maybe you don’t even know where you’re going on this journey, just that you’re looking for a place where your heart can rest.

Let's talk if obsessive, poor body image, eating disorders & disordered eating are holding you back from living a full, content life.
Discussing your relationship with food, eating behaviors and body are extremely private and sensitive topics and can leave you feeling especially vulnerable. I offer a sensitive and gentle space to share and heal. As needed, I work with a trusted treatment team including registered dietitians who also specialize in eating disorders/disordered eating.

Reaching out for support can be the first step toward healing. Sometimes, existing support systems and coping tools are enough; at other times, additional support is needed to move forward. Many of the people I work with feel overwhelmed by their relationship with food, their body, or anxiety, and want to feel more at ease. They may feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve them and are seeking meaningful, lasting change. I believe each person has an innate capacity for resilience, and my goal is to help you access and strengthen that resilience throughout your healing process.

Body Image Therapists
How does body image affect mental health?
Poor body image can influence mental health because it can reduce self-esteem and decrease functioning in other areas of one's life. Negative body image may hinder someone's ability to perform daily tasks, including professional and social responsibilities, because they may feel self-conscious or shame surrounding their appearance; a desire to change one's body as a result of negative body image can also trigger behaviors such as extreme dieting, excessive exercise, or obsessive social media comparison. Poor body image is associated with a number of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and eating disorders, although many people experience negative body image even in the absence of meeting the diagnostic criteria for any mental health disorders.

What does it mean to have a positive body image?
Body image refers to how one internally perceives their appearance and internally "talks" to themself about their body. Positive body image is therefore indicative of a positive perception of one's self and positive internal self-talk that underscores one's strengths. People who have good body image often have higher self-esteem, self-worth, and self-confidence, and they also often recognize how external factors, such as social media or relationship patterns, can influence body image. While body image can change at different life stages and in response to various triggers, practicing self-acceptance and a body-positive mindset can help maintain a more stable sense of positive body image.

Is body image the same as self-esteem?
Body image and self-esteem are often related, but they are distinct concepts. Self-esteem is a broader term that can be shaped by a number of factors outside of body image, including one's functioning at school or in the workplace; it refers to one's capacity to handle various life challenges. Poor body image can be one way in which one's self-esteem is reduced. Reduced self-esteem as a result of poor body image can cause individuals to feel negative about their appearance, withdraw from social interactions, and/or rely on harmful behaviors as a coping mechanism. A "body positive" approach to body image therapy is therefore often used to encourage a more positive view of one's self and thus encourage better self-esteem.

What type of therapy is best to foster a positive body image?
The type of therapy best suited to improve body image depends on each person, as there is not a single therapy specific to body image improvement. That said, many individuals with poor body image benefit from therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based therapy. CBT can be used to help challenge distorted or negative thoughts about one's body, while ACT and mindfulness practices can facilitate a more positive body image through self-acceptance and identification of one's personal strengths. Regardless of treatment type, clients should look for body image therapists who encourage the development of a sense of self outside of their external appearance and help clients reduce unwanted behaviors developed as a result of poor self-esteem, such as dieting or disordered eating patterns.
