I emphasize the importance of
spirituality
and psychology.
I think therapy is always a good idea. Crisis, however, is often what leads us into therapy, and I believe that it is a call and an opportunity to look deeply, not only into our "problems" but, into ourselves. My approach is non-pathologizing, relational, and grounded in Jungian theory. I work with a variety of concerns with a special interest in
spirituality
, identity discovery, developmental and transitional adjustments, grief, loss, depression, chronic and palliative illness. I believe that every person has an innate capacity for healing and I am interested in helping people find theirs.

My experience has included substance abuse recovery issues, codependency and relationship issues, and
spirituality
challenges.
Anxiety and depression can make life very difficult. These symptoms only worsen if you hide them out of fear that others won’t understand or will be judgmental. It is important to know that there are specific treatment approaches that have been shown to be particularly effective. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Exposure with Response Prevention, and other Cognitive Behavioral approaches to help see thoughts and beliefs differently, and to act more in line with how we want to be. My approach also emphasizes a more accepting, compassionate relationship with one’s self to help therapy be most effective.

In my work, I help people find relief and discover effective strategies to navigate life’s challenges. I provide a supportive and nonjudgmental space, where the authentic self can find room to breathe and grow.

My holistic approach incorporates depth-work,
spirituality
, and learning new strategies to effectively navigate life.
I want to acknowledge the courage it takes to seek out a therapist. As social beings, we all need support and at certain times we need it more than ever. Speaking to someone you can open up to and trust, knowing you will not be judged, can really make a difference in navigating emotional turmoil, relationships, stress, anxiety, processing trauma, and making our way through major life transitions. At times we may struggle with larger life questions such as, "Who am I?" and "What is my purpose in life?" I am here to help.

I enjoy integrating
spirituality
in my clinical work whenever it is appropriate as I believe spiritual health and mental health go hand in hand.
Our world today is full of challenges. Many stressors in life knock us off balance, and we feel overwhelmed, distressed, sometimes angry, sad and lonely. But you do not need to face the challenges alone. I am passionate to help people regain the balance by being more attuned to themselves - their identities, emotions, and physical needs. I work collaboratively with my clients to explore and identify ways to meet their goals, and provide tools and interventions as fitting. Most importantly, I walk alongside them in their journey to attain health and growth.

As a specialist with years of experience in the areas of addiction, anxiety, depression and
spirituality
, I help people get reconnected to who they really are, no longer burdened by the problems they come in with.
On the outside, things look great. You’ve become good at hiding how you really feel and putting on your “I-have-it-altogether” face. Inside, however, you’re feeling lost, out of touch and disconnected from yourself. Maybe your anxiety is causing you to lose sleep, or you find yourself isolating from friends and family because of depression. Maybe you're covering all of this up with drugs, alcohol or other risky behaviors. You’re not entirely sure how you got here but you know something needs to change. You deserve to feel reconnected, balanced, calm and happier. Let me help!

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.
What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.
Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.
How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
