Diabetes, high blood pressure, pulled groin, poor
sleep
, cycling, horse back, are contributing factors to inflammation.
Most men will experience some form of impotence in their lifetime, and the likelihood of developing symptoms increases with age and declining health. Erectile dysfunction can be caused by a number of factors such as poor diet, lack of exercise, smoking, and clogged arteries due to heart problems, or old age. In normal, healthy men, erections are activated by arousal, which activates pleasure centers in the brain. The brain sends messages down the spinal column, ending in the penile arteries. Pressure/shockwave treatments supports athletic sports injuries that can also contribute to inflammation restricting blood flow in the body.

Even in moments when what we were born with (i.e., nature), how we were raised (i.e., nurture), or our capacity to act in our best interests (i.e., abilities) may seem to come up short in dealing with life's challenges, each of us can compassionately challenge ourselves to get to where we want to be. A psychotherapist can be a partner in the journey to understanding and accepting what needs to be done, and taking the necessary steps for change to happen.

Anxious perfectionists go through perpetual guilt, shame, and self-punishment. No matter how hard you try, you're always falling short. It's exhausting, but you don't really know how to relax and probably don't
sleep
so well. Maybe you're first-generation, or the sibling who had to keep it together, or a grown-up "gifted and talented" kid. Anxious perfectionism may also show up as body tension, severe procrastination and indecision, and difficulty with boundaries and people-pleasing. Perfectionists don't do things perfectly—they feel like they ALWAYS have to do better. You may not even be sure if you can call yourself a good person.

Sleep
is as important to wellness as diet or exercise.
Mental wellness and physical wellness can either help or hinder the other. Behavioral treatments significantly improve both mental and physical outcomes, but we know it's easier said than done. I take a primarily cognitive-behavioral approach, which has the strongest evidence base and research backing, to most problem areas impacting your wellness. CBT techniques effectively change your life in the here-and-now, but careful consideration of your values show us what changes to make and how. We will explore your values and goals together; I have not climbed your mountain, but as I climb mine I’m driven to help you summit yours.

"Grief does not change you...it reveals you."- John Green. Loss comes in many forms; death of a loved one, family trauma, end of a relationship or job, a move/loss of home, and health issues. Experiencing grief because of loss can make us turn away just when we need the most support. We can also get triggered at certain times, especially around the holidays. Reaching out takes courage and I provide a safe, nonjudgmental and caring space to help clients express complicated emotions, manage anxiety/
sleep
issues, learn coping skills and practice self-care during these life changing transitions.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.
Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.
Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.
What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
