You feel caged up with no where to go. You desire a day or night off, but if you ever get it you don't know what to do with yourself. You are feeling restless. Your life feels like it is passing you by day in and day out. You have plans and dreams, but the reality of life is making them more and more unreachable. Many days you walk around feeling cloudy and find it hard to make any traction. Helplessness has set in and there does not seem to be any answers to feeling better other than temporary fixes that are proving to be a problem for others around you. Dissatisfaction and disappointment and lack of purpose show up daily.

Let's face it: everyday feels like a struggle, even though you seem to have everything that is supposed to make your happy. it feels like you have no purpose in your life anymore. You're asked to play so many parts in every day life. The problem is that you're exhausted, and your sense of self was lost along the way. You've been so dedicated to everyone else that now you're feeling stuck and unhappy in your own life. Before you know it, you're fighting off anxiety, sadness, or relationship problems. Everyone looks to you for the answers, but you don't know how to fix anything anymore.

I help people with low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma/complex trauma, indecision/stuckness/failure to launch, find the roots of their condition, process them and transition to resilience, personal growth and fulfilment. I help couples connect with themselves, their values and intentions, communicate authentically & safely and either experience the peace, happiness, and satisfaction they once knew and more, or recognize the truth that it is not meant to be, part on the best terms possible and begin new lives. I have lived in three countries and have deep empathy for immigrants but use mainly English for sessions.

I enjoy working with couples, families and individuals. Couples and families often struggle to see eye-to-eye on critical issues. I can help reduce conflict and blow-ups by restoring affection and admiration and teaching tools to help turn adversaries into allies. I have experience helping individuals going through significant life changes that may force them to think hard about who they are and what they want. These changes could involve leaving home, divorce, marriage, having a baby, starting a new job, quitting a job, finding a life partner, exploring sexuality or gender identity, etc.

You’re driven and successful yet you struggle with bouts of anxiety, depression, burnout, chronic stress, perfectionism or triggers from unhealed trauma. Maybe you’ve encountered some recent life transitions that left you feeling not at all like yourself but feeling inadequate, lost or stuck and you just desperately want to feel like you again or maybe you want to feel differently all together because feeling like you has never felt good. You can have control over choices in your mindset. You can have the power to choose how you respond to what you are feeling. You can find your balanced mind and take your power back.

ATTENTION PROFESSIONALS STRUGGLING WITH HIGH ANXIETY AND/OR RELATIONSHIP ISSUES (AT WORK OR HOME): You really want to talk with someone, but you're not sure who to trust. When you describe tough challenges at work or with your family, you want someone who GETS IT. The last thing you need is to discover that your counselor has too little experience to bring any new solutions to the table. You're looking for someone who's "BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT." Someone who inspires confidence with the way they approach their work, and someone who's already solved the problems you're dealing with.

If you are struggling with relationships, codependency or anger, let's talk. Codependent behaviors like people pleasing, low self-esteem and giving too much create unhealthy, one-sided relationships. Healing from codependent relationships starts with you, not getting others to change. Maybe you're already in recovery but need more individualized help. Anger management is another area. Whether your explode or stuff your anger, you can learn how to handle emotions in healthy way. Relationships and self-esteem improve when you have the skills it takes to take care of yourself and communicate effectively. You're not alone!

I work with couples utilizing Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and with individuals utilizing Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). EFT has been demonstrated to be highly effective in helping couples change unhelpful patterns, repair trust, and create a more secure bond. EFT is based on the premise that what humans crave most is love and security. It would make sense that when we feel our love connection is threatened (often triggered by issues related to money, sex, parenting, in-laws, etc) we might either pursue our partner, desperately trying to “fix” the relationship, or defend ourselves by withdrawing.

How can I find a therapist in San Jose?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
