Dealing with anxiety, sadness,
OCD
symptoms, reproductive issues, or post partum depression can create guilt, shame, and isolation, making it more difficult to live a full and healthy life.
My clinical philosophy is to approach you as a whole person and not just your target symptoms. Empathetic and thoughtful, I tailor a personalized, cutting edge treatment plan specifically for your needs and level of readiness. Although typically described as gentle and warm, I offer tough love too as I will hold you accountable as you work to confront your fears. Together we can uncover what is stopping you from living according to your values and help you to remove those barriers. Ultimately I will help you to achieve measurable progress toward your goals.

Using Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy, in a trauma - informed and collaborative way, I’ll help you reclaim what
OCD
stole from you while taking back control of your life.
Your thoughts are racing again. You’re late again. Showering took forever, breakfast was an ordeal, and leaving the house required an extensive pre-flight checklist. People wonder why everything takes you so long. You’re ashamed to admit that even the simplest tasks have become a complex choreography of inexplicable compulsions. How can you expect anyone to understand what you’re facing when you don’t get it yourself? You know there’s no logical reason you do the things you do. But it doesn’t matter; a part of you truly believes that something terrible will happen if you don’t do, feel, or think the right thing.

I specialize in working with adults who experience depression, anxiety disorders (agoraphobia, panic disorder, social anxiety, specific phobias),
OCD
, insomnia, chronic pain, relationship challenges, heartbreak, phase-of-life stressors, procrastination behaviors & LGBTQ/Race related challenges.
In our work together, my intention is to help you break away from the maladaptive thought patterns, emotions, actions, and external circumstances that keep you stuck in an unwanted experience. My goal is to help you create progress towards the life you do want for yourself. I’ll want to understand the changes you’d like to see in yourself. With this in mind, I’ll want to identify the behaviors you’d like to demonstrate, the lasting emotions you’d like to feel, and the outcomes you’d like to see present themselves in your life. With that information, we'll set the overall goals for therapy. Now providing Psychedelic Assisted Therapy.

I have over 20 years of experience specializing in the treatment of anxiety including
OCD
, worry, panic, social anxiety, phobias and hoarding.
Anxiety and depression can make life very difficult. These symptoms only worsen if you hide them out of fear that others won’t understand or will be judgmental. It is important to know that there are specific treatment approaches that have been shown to be particularly effective. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Exposure with Response Prevention, and other Cognitive Behavioral approaches to help see thoughts and beliefs differently, and to act more in line with how we want to be. My approach also emphasizes a more accepting, compassionate relationship with one’s self to help therapy be most effective.

I practice each intervention through distinctive situations my clients may experience when living with trauma and mental health which can develop symptoms of depression, anxiety,
obsessive
compulsive disorder, and co-occurring addictive disorders.
Childhood trauma can cripple us, it creates overpowering ‘intense’ emotions such as anxiety, depression, and anger when left unattended which begins to create physical symptoms to defend our bodies from the internal wounds. Has there ever been a time in your life where you have experienced this reaction? Are you experiencing these feelings based on current or past trauma from childhood, early teens, adolescence, adulthood, or as a senior? I aim to utilize a variety of actionable techniques to help reduce trauma related symptoms and make lasting changes in life.

How long does OCD treatment take?
OCD is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
