Therapy doesn’t mean you’re broken, It’s about being brave enough to seek healing, growth, and real change. It’s about uncovering what’s holding you back, learning new tools, and creating the kind of life you’ve always wanted but maybe never thought possible. Change is hard. But so is staying stuck. And if you’re reading this, you’ve already taken the first step—you're looking for something better. You deserve peace. You deserve clarity. You deserve joy. And most of all, you deserve support on your journey. So let’s fight together for the life you truly want and deserve. You are worth the effort. You are worth the healing and work.

You don’t have to suffer alone. Sitting with difficult emotions, pain, and discomfort can be challenging. Perhaps you’re feeling lost, confused, or desire change. You may simply want to learn how to become the best version of you. Alternatively, you may have come to a breaking point where somehow the life you’ve chosen isn’t working anymore. Yet you have no idea why. In the absence of love, we often adopt behaviors in hopes to earn acceptance and love from those around us. These behaviors naturally become habits and solidify as part of our personality. However, they do not define you. You are so much more.

Hello! I am Dr. Efrain Zepeda. I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Social Worker. In the past 23 years of working as a mental health professional, one important lesson I have learned is that the most powerful therapeutic intervention is found in the interpersonal connection that occurs in the client-therapist relationship. Together we can analyze the past to co-create a new meaning with the goal of achieving healing. I strongly believe that therapy is not about labeling or judging, but rather about personal discovery.

I can be your ally to undertake relationship issues, workplace challenges, or pressures at school. Navigating the “’real world” can be daunting, especially with the influence of social media. Hoarding Therapists

What is the most effective treatment for hoarding?

Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) has been well-studied in the treatment of hoarding. This type of therapy includes changing beliefs surrounding possessions, as well as learning how to discard items and reduce acquisitions. The hoarder may also gain much-needed organizational skills. Another useful therapy may be compassion-focused therapy, which can address emotion regulation and negative self-perception.

How long does therapy for hoarding take?

Although treatment can vary, most people demonstrate improvement after 23 sessions, with some showing improvement after just a few sessions. Researchers have developed a 26-session cognitive behavioral program. People who hoard may need “maintenance” sessions over the years if the problem arises repeatedly.

Are there medications for hoarding?

The more commonly-prescribed medications for hoarding are including antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). This can include drugs such as venlafaxine and paroxetine. And because hoarding disorder is related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, medications for OCD, such as clomipramine, may be effective for hoarding as well.

Can hoarding come back after treatment?

Hoarding is a chronic disorder and it can last throughout an individual’s lifetime. Regularly checking in with a psychotherapist can help manage symptoms long-term. A good therapist will help the person learn needed skills including decision-making, organization, and stress reduction. The patient will gain a better perspective and the need to cling to useless items will lessen.
