Maybe you've been stuck and unable to see your way forward, or you feel a burden you can't quite relieve yourself of. Often times we can find our way with the support of
family
or friends. But sometimes we need the help of a certified professional. I view therapy through the lens of self compassion, understanding and collaboration. It is a moving dialogue that shapes healing and being. The development of a therapeutic relationship and interventions are individualized because mental health treatment is more than treating symptoms and a diagnosis.

For couples and families, I use attachment theory,
family
systems approaches and communication skills.
I help people with low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma/complex trauma, indecision/stuckness/failure to launch, find the roots of their condition, process them and transition to resilience, personal growth and fulfilment. I help couples connect with themselves, their values and intentions, communicate authentically & safely and either experience the peace, happiness, and satisfaction they once knew and more, or recognize the truth that it is not meant to be, part on the best terms possible and begin new lives. I have lived in three countries and have deep empathy for immigrants but use mainly English for sessions.

I am a Level 1 trained Internal
Family
Systems (IFS) therapist.
First, I want to say welcome and recognize your courage in seeking therapy. It is important to me to address each person in their entirety - including one’s physical, emotional, mental, cultural and spiritual self. My style of therapy is focused on what is showing up in the present while also acknowledging and honoring how past patterns impact you today. In my work I bring an awareness of and sensitivity to power, prejudice and oppression and the many impacts that they have on an individual’s experience of themselves and the world around them.

I look at the whole child, to understand developmentally, socially, educationally, socially and within the
family
system to better understand the etiology of your child's struggles to provide appropriate therapy.
With over 20 years of almost exclusively working with SF Bay Area teens and their families (and a mother of two teenagers),-I have a solid understanding of the issues adolescents face, the struggles they encounter, and the mental health problems that are so very prevalent for them today. Depression and anxiety are at all all time high for teens and understanding the why isn't always so clear. My clients are facing a myriad of concerns - school refusal, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, substance use, social struggles, disordered eating, behavioral issues, just to name a few. One in thing is common is that they are all hurting,

I love helping clients to explore generational patterns to allow for them to build dreamed legacies in their
family
trees.
As a resilient survivor of decades of trauma, I am passionate about serving children, adolescence, adults, and their families to promote healing from physical, emotional, sexual, intergenerational, and racial traumas. With 19 years serving populations with varying neurodiversities (ADHD, ASD, developmental delays), mental health struggles, and marginalized communities with complex traumas (e.g., substance abuse, domestic violence, sexual trauma, oppression), I am dedicated to empowering others to access their most authentic selves and journeying alongside people as they create a purposeful life that is meaningful for them.

family
conflict, and parent-child relational issues.
In childhood, our outside shapes the inside, and in adulthood the inside shapes the outside. -Chip Judd I believe that who we are today is shaped by the experiences and relationships we had growing up. Through relationships we can become aware of our own strengths as well as our brokenness from past hurts, hiccups, and hang ups and discover that a part of us yearns to be heard, revealed, and healed.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
