I also have extensive experience working with late diagnosed adults with autism or ADHD.
I focus on resolving present effects of an unresolved past on current relationships, behaviors, and unhelpful beliefs. For neuro-divergence, we work towards developing coping skills, exploring beliefs, and finding ways to accommodate yourself. And validating how masking may look different for women, or late diagnosed individuals.

I am offering psychological testing for ADHD, Autism, IQ, learning, other diagnostic questions.
I believe we all have struggles to overcome throughout our lifetimes. If you are finding yourself in a challenging spot, whether that may include life transitions, loss, or emotional or physical difficulties, you may feel stuck. My goal is to help those with whom I work harness their inner strength and resources while learning new skills to get through whatever life may throw their way. As Thich Nhat Hanh, the Zen Buddhist spiritual leader, has said, "No mud, no lotus." I believe we can grow and blossom with the right support, no matter how dark things may seem.

I love working with neurodivergent adults, artists/creatives, and the LGBTQIA+ community.
My work resonates most with people who are ready to address the deeper layers of their experience & concerns. Those who have coping skills, maybe an understanding of ‘why’ they struggle, and yet still feel something is stuck. Working with your system rather than against it gives us a chance to create sustainable change.

My goal is to create a safe environment for you to explore your personal needs. I would be honored to assist you with navigating life transitions such as job relocations, marriage conflicts, parenting challenges, major life decisions or empty nest syndrome.

I have extensive experience and knowledge supporting children and young adults profoundly impacted by autism in a school setting, along with a deep understanding of how the family has been affected.
When we focus on developing a relationship first and feeling a sense of safety, it is much easier to navigate through the discomfort. So we will start there. I invite you to try Art Therapy in a way that will assist you in recognizing your strengths and provide you with a feeling of connection. If Art Therapy is not something you are interested in, we will engage in talk therapy so you may experience feeling seen and known. I often incorporate art, play, and movement when working with children and families. A typical client of mine is looking for guidance in emotional regulation and wants greater emotional awareness.

I regularly work with individuals with ADHD and Autistic individuals.
In person openings available on Fridays in Auburn, CA. Life gets complicated. Sometimes it helps to work with a trained professional to help put things in perspective. Struggle is part of life, but it doesn’t have to define us. It has been my great joy to help clients work towards a place of empowerment and fulfillment in their lives. You may currently be feeling jaded and dejected about the current state of the world. Perhaps you even feel isolated and scared. Therapy can help you figure out what direction to take even when you’re uncertain about the rest of the world.

Autism Therapists
What is the most effective treatment for autism?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) has come to be considered the standard treatment for children with autism spectrum disorder, and research has confirmed its effectiveness for many children. Therapists trained in ABA techniques work with children (and their parents) on developing social skills, communication and learning abilities, and everyday habits of hygiene and grooming. The clinician will tailor their program to the child’s particular need but the overarching goal will be to help them advance as far as possible toward independence based on their level of symptoms and decrease the need for additional special services. Families should seek a mental health professional specifically trained in ABA, and holding special certification in the technique, who has extensive experience not only with the approach but in using it with children with the same level of symptoms as the child who needs care.

How does ABA work?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) sessions, which typically focus on positive reinforcement, can be intensive, lasting two or more hours several times a week, and continuing for two years or more. Therapists can also be expected to ask parents to take an active role in reinforcing lessons. Research has found that the technique can lead to major improvements that decrease the need for additional special services.

How does treatment for autism work?
Therapy sessions based on Applied Behavior Analysis will likely be frequent, intensive, and highly structured. After a thorough assessment, a therapist will help a child understand and develop skills in a range of areas, including communication, motor skills, social skills, self-care, play, and academic skills, as well as routines of daily living like hygiene. Typically, the therapist will help a child break down the components of a behavior—often referred to as the antecedent (what prompts an action), the behavior, and the consequence(what immediately follows)—and then reward the child at every step, while also asking parents to reinforce the lessons, and the rewards, throughout the day. This core therapy may be supplemented by occupational or speech therapy, and antidepressants, antipsychotics, and anticonvulsants may be prescribed to address specific severe symptoms.

How long does therapy for autism take?
Some people with autism spectrum disorder may be engaged in some level of therapy for many years, but research shows that treatment will be most effective if it is begun early and delivered intensively. When therapy begins by age 3, children tend to be better able to grasp and adopt the skills needed to manage everyday life, including attending school and establishing social relationships. This type of early-intervention treatment regimen is highly structured, typically involving 20 to 40 hours of one-on-one therapy per week, along with additional hours of engagement managed by parents, for a period of two years or more, although the duration of treatment is dependent on the child’s level of symptoms and pace of progress.
