I also see folks who are dealing with other issues, such as anxiety or depression.
A lot of people struggle with some aspect of their sexuality, but they may find it difficult to talk about their problems, fears, or concerns with anyone. I am very open to hearing whatever is going on in your life and I'm not afraid to talk about sex. As a sex therapist, I know a lot about sex and sexuality and I can use this knowledge to help!

I have experience working with trauma survivors and those dealing with depression and anxiety.
Life is full of challenges which may include difficulty in one's personal relationships. Seeking therapy can be intimidating, but I will provide a safe, non-judgmental environment for one to share their thoughts and feelings. Therapy provides a healthy outlet to learn new skills to improve interpersonal relationships and overall mental health. I have a Master's Degree in Social Work and have been in the field for the past 20 years. I thoroughly enjoy working with the adult population. I personally know how therapy can help tremendously during low periods of life. Therapy should provide mental healing and wholeness!

I have several years of experience in treating a variety of symptoms impacting individuals including anxiety, depression, PTSD, post-partum depression, and more.
With telehealth, I find that I most often employ interventions that focus on the cognitive behavioral model while addressing individual needs. Our perception of our experience alters how we evaluate our reality and accept change. Being able to challenge automatic thoughts and recognize triggers from experiences enables us to move forward and enjoy our lives.

So, when you're ready to create change -- be it saving your marriage, improving communication skills, parenting, or resolving depression or anxiety, or just figuring yourself out -- I am here to help.
Pick me! Pick me! :-) Hi, I'm Adrian. I'm in person and local in San Jose. I absolutely love this work and, with over 20 years of experience, I am still energized by it. Many of my clients tried just about everything before deciding that therapy was their best solution. Making changes in our lives and getting clear on what we need to change can be very difficult.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
