I can help you overcome feelings of hopelessness, worry, fear, or overwhelm by creating an action plan tailored to your needs and goal.
We all feel lost from time to time, but there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve been through my own therapy as a young adult when I was stuck in a bout of anxiety and panic attacks due to childhood trauma. Throughout my years of working with traumatized individuals, I learned first-hand about how childhood trauma can have a strong impact on adulthood. I can help you address unresolved trauma, in order for you to find passion, connection, and purpose in your life.

Got Anxiety? What would it be like if those negative thoughts and feelings subsided and left you feeling more peaceful and calm? Move through life with greater ease and confidence. Reduce the effects of past traumatic experiences, tone down that negative self-talk, and replace those negative mind movies with more optimistic thoughts - naturally. Reduce the effects of inner conflicts that have prevented you from getting your goals - whether you are aware of them or not. Chances are you have tried other modalities and used some tools and they only worked for a short period of time. Make a long-term change by re-programming your mind.

I work with individuals and couples who want to find more fulfillment and grow beyond the wounds of their past: whether they show up as anxiety, depression, relational conflict, insecure attachment, trauma, addiction, codependency, obsessions, compulsions, or grief.
What do you want? This is the question you and I will start with. There are times in our lives when we feel sure about who we are and what we want and just need some thoughtful support to get there. There are other times when we feel powerfully torn and conflicted and we have to look deeper into ourselves to discover the right path. I help people with both. As you talk me through what’s troubling you, I’ll help you feel and think through your experiences. I’ll help you work through internal obstacles and take thoughtful action to resolve interpersonal ones.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
