(Secure Video Conferencing is available). I am a licensed neuropsychologist with expertise in how behavior and skills are related. I help adults, parents, and their children, who are struggling and those who are gifted (2e). The joy of my work is to help identify a child's or adult's strengths, so that the weak areas do not define who you are. A correct diagnosis helps you determine the most effective ways forward. These evaluations are also used in school 504 or IEP's, SAT, &ACT accommodations. An evaluation is also helpful if you're concerned about memory or dementia . Affiliation: CPA; Special Needs Professionals, Board President

My approach is affirming of all identities and their intersections. I integrate a culturally responsive approach to find balance between your inner self and addressing the impacts of oppressive systems. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, life transitions, depression, grief, insomnia, and trauma. One of my specialties is working with adults adjusting to recent cognitive changes (e.g., COVID brain fog, mild cognitive impairment) and family members of loved ones with a progressive neurological disorder (e.g., dementia ). Amidst life's toughest moments, finding clarity, connection, and joy is still possible.

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to flourish in life while others continually struggle or why one person responds differently than another to the same circumstances? Because our internal world is invisible, most of us don’t realize the impact it has on our moods, our perceptions and our lives. We find ourselves reacting to life. We may try to regain control by attempting to manage the external world and when we do, we experience varying amounts of stress. If you are searching for answers on how you can improve the quality of your life, please call me for a free consultation.

Writer John O'Donohue defines my view of being a therapist: "This is what therapy is about: helping people retrieve what has been lost to them, wakening and bringing home their fundamental wholesomeness.. Therapists are like poets: they draw on the power of words in the profoundly creative work of bringing people fully alive to themselves, awakening in them the human capacity for divine imagination that ‘dreams our completion’.”

Carrying that heavy backpack of emotional "stuff" around? Need help unpacking? All too often we carry these heavy loads, not realizing there are resources and skills that will help you feel better. Improving your everyday quality of life is possible. Trauma, work stressors, strained relationships, and self-esteem are the most common struggles I see in my practice.

Hi! If I have learned one thing in life it's that change is difficult, particularly without help. I offer the opportunity to work collaboratively through what's keeping you from living the life you always thought you would have. Therapy can help one let go of patterns and beliefs, often subconscious, that aren't working. And changing our assumptions about the world and improving our relationships can result in profoundly positive changes and a life worth embracing! I look forward to helping you realize those changes.

Alzheimer's Therapists

What are the first-line treatment options for Alzheimer’s disease?

The first-line treatment for Alzheimer’s disease is often medication, which may be prescribed based on the severity of the disease. These include cholinesterase inhibitors, memantine, or a combination of the two. Behavioral treatments can help people cope with emotional distress, such as anxiety or anger, and explore lifestyle changes related to housing, caregiving, sleep, and finances.

When to seek treatment for Alzheimer’s?

It’s best to seek treatment at the first signs of dementia. Early warning signs of Alzheimer’s include memory problems, such as forgetting appointments or directions, as well as trouble concentrating, paying attention, retrieving words, and carrying out daily household tasks. An early diagnosis can help people slow the progression of the disease with treatment and plan for the future in terms of housing, support, finances, and legality.

Are there specific medications to treat Alzheimer’s?

Medications approved by the FDA to manage symptoms of Alzheimer’s include galantamine, rivastigmine, and donepezil for mild to moderate Alzheimer’s, and memantine, donepezil, and the rivastigmine patch for moderate to severe Alzheimer’s. These drugs can help manage the disease, but no drug currently cures the disease. Medications recently approved by the FDA, such aducanumab and lecanemab may slow the disease course, but aspects of their effectiveness are still debated.

Are there natural treatments for Alzheimer’s?

Alzheimer’s disease cannot be cured via natural remedies (nor via medication), but some lifestyle habits can help forestall it or slow its progression. Lifestyle activities that can help prevent Alzheimer’s disease include regular exercise, a healthy, well-rounded diet, stimulating cognitive activity, time spent socializing, adequate sleep, and stress management as needed.
