Thank you for viewing my page. I've been a therapist and clinical supervisor for over 15 years; I know how to help, and I have the experience. I work with engineers, tech, and business professionals to help them express and process hard emotions in a supportive, non-intimidating way. I'm married to an engineer, and I know the pressures. I specialize in working with successful, high achieving women and men struggling with depression,
anxiety
, and relationship or work concerns. If you're a therapist yourself and struggling with compassion fatigue, burn out and stress, I speak your language, and I've been there.

My area of focus includes but is not limited to grief and loss,
anxiety
, depressive symptoms, adjusting to change and life-transitions, relationship-issues, and life challenges resulting from racial and multicultural identity.
Therapy is essential to healing from crisis-related trauma, however it does not always have to be crisis responsive. You may want to change self-defeating behaviors or develop or improve your sense of purpose. While the influence of life experience from infancy through adulthood is undeniable, I specialize in using person-centered therapy that focuses on the present with strengths-based, solutions-oriented emphasis and holistic and mindfulness practices that nurture self- awareness.

We all feel lost from time to time, but there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve been through my own therapy as a young adult when I was stuck in a bout of
anxiety
and
panic
attacks due to childhood trauma. Throughout my years of working with traumatized individuals, I learned first-hand about how childhood trauma can have a strong impact on adulthood. I can help you address unresolved trauma, in order for you to find passion, connection, and purpose in your life.

Do you feel overwhelmed by stress,
anxiety
, or defeat, as a result of a significant life change or past trauma? Maybe a relationship has ended or a new phase of life has just begun. Perhaps you’re living with the long-term effects of abuse, assault, or other traumatic experience. You may feel unsafe & out of control of your life or emotions, anxious about even the smallest things, or like you just can’t find your footing. Eventually, these things start to overflow into other areas of life: your relationships, work, and decisions about the future. Despite how hard things are right now, you know there’s more to life than this.

Many people experience
anxiety
or sadness at some point in their life. Sometimes these feelings are related to a big change, a new stressor, or a longstanding challenge that has left you feeling overwhelmed and stuck. Regardless of what's going on in your life, my goal is to help you better confront, cope with, and recover from difficulties, so that you can live a more fulfilling life. I understand that the idea of therapy can seem intimidating. I see your decision to engage in treatment as a true testament to your strength.

Anger, shame,
anxiety
, depression, and perfectionism are emotions and traits that can be caused by trauma. Unresolved trauma can negatively affect our current relationships and family dynamics. My goal as a therapist is to collaborate with you in order to manage trauma-related symptoms and reach a more meaningful state. I utilize a client-centered approach in order to create a safe space for my clients to process unresolved feelings/reactions. Forming a meaningful connection allows us to create a space that welcomes vulnerability, and the therapeutic relationship is just as important as the therapeutic modality.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
