As a therapist, I look for the basic goodness of human beings and try to bring clients having locus of control in their lives and share perspectives leading clients to feel liberated so they find the meaning of life; fulfillment and happiness. This takes practice, as our minds naturally scan for the negative, but if we try, we can almost always find something good about you and others which will lead us to heal and peace and may bring harmony and joy to our life. Personally, I enjoy reading books regarding history and philosophy. I have a strong passion for helping children and adults, including parenting issues.

“How are you?” It seems sometimes an answer of “good” doesn’t summarize how you really feel. Things happen and you feel stuck. Sadness, loneliness and maybe hopelessness often occupy your mind. Sometimes, negative memories from the past and overly anxious thoughts about the future stop you from being in the present. It seems impossible for those around you to understand what you’re going through. Conflict, confusion, and discomfort seem like the norm, not the exception. You know something has to change and life must have more to offer, but you’re not sure where to start. If this describes your experiences, you're in the right place.

Are
trauma
, anxiety and insecurity controlling your life, preventing you from pursuing your dreams and living life to the fullest? Do you relive the past as if it were happening right now? Your head knows better, but it fails to convince your heart otherwise. As horrible as those experiences were in the past, they continue to zap away your joy and confidence today. You might even avoid situations that trigger the feelings. Are there any lost part of you that you'd like to return to? Do others believe in your competence more than you believe in yourself? What would it be like if life was driven by passion and joy, not fear or shame?

Do you feel controlled by food, rather than in control of it ? Are you obsessed with eating, dieting or bingeing? Does your scale determine your mood? Is your life strongly impacted by your weight? Life doesn't have to be a weight struggle.
Learn the difference between head and body hunger. Decipher what your obsessive behavior is really saying. Acquire physical, mental and emotional balance.
Whether it is eating, drinking, anger, spending, controlling, an addiction is a mal-adaptive attempt at managing feelings and escaping discomfort.

I'm not in the business of instigating change. I am in the delicate and complex work of empowering it. Because I believe you have the wisdom to bring about change. Because change is your work and your choice; my role is to set the stage, empty it, illuminate what stands in the way and explore with you the possibilities for change. Ultimately you decide. The fact that you're here already ensures it. My job is to notice your process, reflect and honor it. In this space, I have seen amazing change happen.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
