I am passionate about helping
COUPLES
reconnect, stop ineffective communication patterns, heal emotional wounds and navigate mismatched values and desires. I also focus on NEURODIVERSE
COUPLES
who may be facing some unique challenges due to their different neurology. It is important to view a partnership through this biological lens as opposed to focusing on external conflicts only. I believe that any couple deserves the chance to rebuild their
relationship
and to both give and receive love. I have observed that with appropriate guidance, people have the inner resources they need to transform: internally and in
relationship
.

Do you feel controlled by food, rather than in control of it ? Are you obsessed with eating, dieting or bingeing? Does your scale determine your mood? Is your life strongly impacted by your weight? Life doesn't have to be a weight struggle.
Learn the difference between head and body hunger. Decipher what your obsessive behavior is really saying. Acquire physical, mental and emotional balance.
Whether it is eating, drinking, anger, spending, controlling, an addiction is a mal-adaptive attempt at managing feelings and escaping discomfort.

I work with you where you are, whether your
relationship
is unraveling, you're facing major life changes, or you're stuck in unhealthy behavior patterns.
Daily life brings plenty of stresses, but most of us manage to function pretty well in spite of them. Sometimes, however, the stresses become more than we can handle, making us feel nervous, sad or angry. We might argue more with loved ones, have trouble sleeping or difficulty concentrating. Physical problems might show up like headaches or stomach complaints. If all this weren't enough, we might self-medicate by doing things like over-eating, excessive drinking or shopping. While these activities are actually attempts to self-comfort, a more productive way to gain relief when life gets out of control is to seek therapy.

Therapy is a safe place to be yourself. I work with adults, teens, and
couples
on learning how to identify their feelings and needs and how to get those needs met. The therapeutic
relationship
is one aspect of therapy that will help you in learning about yourself, will allow you to feel safe enough to face your inner fears and uncertainties, and help you to grow into the person you want to be. If you are dealing with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem,
relationship
conflicts, unhealthy communication, anger, and/or domestic violence, then it is possible that I will be able to help you with your own self-exploration.

Accepting New Clients. I work with individuals and
couples
who are ready to get down to it and do real work. If you are looking for direct, empathic, tell it like it is therapy to create real change, you have come to the right place. Perhaps you have been in therapy for years and have only felt minimal change, or are feeling stuck in your current situation and are ready to be a true active participant in your change; either way you are struggling, sick of feeling this way, and want help and change now.

I see adult Individuals and
Couples
, as they bridge the disparity between their current situation and their ideal.
Life changes constantly! Even with "good" change, we have a grief response! I work well with those experiencing sadness, worry and/or grief. I see Individuals and
Couples
who are in a "State of Adjustment" and having some difficulty. It may be an adjustment to the loss of a loved one through death or divorce, to hearing a painful truth, to a betrayal or to our "ideal" not being met.
Couples
, especially those with children, experience great adjustments in their
relationship
to their own Being as well as to each other. I work collaboratively and with great sensitivity.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
