My approach goes beyond mere conversation; it involves Somatic Experiencing; a body based treatment to working with trauma that helps your nervous system heal & rediscover the experience of joy.
Anxiety and stress can leave us feeling shattered, disconnected, and out of touch with our authentic selves. The constant overwhelm, isolation from misunderstood friends, and struggle to establish and uphold boundaries can be exhausting. It's possible you can't even recall a time when you didn't feel this way. But here's what's clear: you're craving relief. You're eager to cultivate fulfilling relationships free from the grip of the past. You're determined to regain confidence in asserting your needs. Above all, you're ready to rekindle self-love and embrace the future with renewed hope.

It also provides relief from the somatic symptoms of stress.
Have you tried talk therapy before and eventually came to a place of feeling stuck or like it wasn't helping anymore? Are you struggling with feelings of depression, anxiety and chronic pain? Are you a part of the LGBTQ+ community and looking for a therapist who is knowledgeable about the struggles faced in this community? Do you need help navigating life transitions? Do you want to explore and better understand the dynamics of your family and friends? Do you need help processing challenging experiences or trauma? Are you curious about psychedelic assisted therapy? Or maybe you just want to deepen your understanding of yourself.

My style is grounded in a deep sense of relationality and informed by trauma and somatic theories and techniques.
As a therapist, my work revolves around helping individuals and families understand and navigate their relational dynamics. My clients are often curious about exploring the complexities of their personality and how it manifests in their relationships. I believe that a willingness to be open-minded and introspective is key to making progress in therapy. In addition to working with individuals, I also have experience working with families who are struggling to build healthier relationships with one another. Whether it's communication issues or other challenges, I'm dedicated to helping families find solutions that work for them.

Somatic Psychotherapy is about life in the body.
Sometimes who we think we are "supposed" to be and who we are in our truth don't always line up causing anxiety, depression, conflict in relationships and career. Recognizing and allowing the true self to emerge is empowering and challenging. I work collaboratively with you to discover this truth and along the way build some skills and strategies to support us along the journey - uncovering your strengths, your desires and your self. We will chat, move, breathe, write maybe even dance. The body is the anchor and sometimes we forget how wise and rich it is. We will see if we can rediscover this truth. I think we can.

I rarely rely on any one approach and blend interests in transpersonal, somatic, cognitive, spiritual, natural, creative/artistic, and indigenous healing to create truly unique experiences for each client.
Welcome, glad you're here. Let's be honest, life often is messy and can feel like a struggle. And yet, what if beneath trauma, disappointments, frustrations, or seemingly poor life choices lie seeds of growth that just need some watering? What if you already contain the ingredients essential for thriving? Might your relationships as well? In my view therapy provides a sacred like opportunity where one is offered a chance to experience renewed vitality, meaning, and an invigorated sense of mind, body, spirit, and soul. A space where the genius in you or perhaps the potentials lying in relationships and parenting roles can emerge.

As we embark on this journey together, I aspire to provide you with my full attention and engagement, allowing you to experience the benefits of gentle, generous focus. With nearly a decade of experience working with non-ordinary states of consciousness (e.g. psychotic, manic, dissociative, ecstatic, etc.), I'm confident that I can help you manage most anything you're experiencing. You will find our time together has depth due to my background in Jungian theory; yet the somatic (embodied) and trauma-informed approach underlying everything we focus your curious attention on will remain rooted in your felt-sense of the present moment.

My approach focuses on early attachment and attending to mind, heart, and body through somatic methods.
Are you navigating a major life transition and feeling overwhelmed? Are you ready to address that issue that’s been put aside for years? Or do you simply want a space to be supported as you grow? Whatever brought you here, I hope to journey with you towards greater well-being. I see adult individuals, couples, and families. My practice includes working with parents through pregnancy and postpartum. I cherish this time because I’ve seen it offer opportunities for deep healing and connection. I also provide dyadic play therapy for young children and caregivers. As a mother of two, I know the delight and chaos of parenting little ones.

As a psychotherapist, I practice with the belief that therapy can be a rich and vital exploration into understanding the deepest parts of ourselves. The parts we cherish as well as the parts we want to change.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
