As a
Somatic
psychotherapist I bring a body-oriented approach to my work.
I believe that coming to therapy is about making a home in ourselves: a home where we feel at ease, where all the different parts of us are okay and we don't feel that something is wrong with who we are. When life gets hard we can feel isolated and cutoff - from the people around us, and also from ourselves. When we most need to feel compassion towards ourselves it can be hardest to find. My work is to help you find that compassion for yourself and to support you in strengthening your capacity to meet whatever life brings with courage and confidence.

I often use tools like
somatic
therapy, brainspotting, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and energy psychology.
Clients come to my practice looking for a therapist who can get to the root of their problem, and help them overcome anxiety and build confidence. I show up as my authentic self to each session because I know how important it is to be able to trust and relate to your therapist. I will celebrate your wins with you, and I will sit with you and help you process the tough stuff. I work with clients who are feeling stuck and overwhelmed but have the desire to improve. Clients who are highly motivated to start working on themselves.

Orgonomy involves an in-depth exploration and conversation with your unique way of interacting in the world alongside
somatic
interventions that help reinstate a natural, healthy pulsation in your nervous system mitigating areas of constriction & restriction.
Life can present adversity and challenges in identity, work, health and relationships as well other troubling symptoms. These difficulties and traumas can contort and distort us; blocking our capacity to creatively express and love freely. We unconsciously develop patterns and coping styles that stymie our deepest longing for true belonging, authentic connection and expansion. We find ourselves shackled to re-enactments of painful aspects of the past. I will assist you in developing keen insight and awareness into your unique adaptive style and to harness this awareness toward life-affirming changes in the now.

My therapeutic style is
somatic
, empathetic and appropriately humorous. I believe in a holistic approach to therapy, incorporating and joining mind, body and soul. I use breath work to focus on expanding your capacity to feel emotions; use awareness of tension to identify behaviors; and manage physiological sensations that overwhelm you. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families struggling with trust, communication and trauma issues. I believe
somatic
therapy is helpful in relieving anxiety and depression by becoming aware of what overwhelms you and leaves you feeling stuck in a cycle that you can't stop.

I’m currently training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a
somatic
and mindfulness-based approach to healing trauma.
I offer in-person and virtual individual psychotherapy for women and teen girls. My clients often seek support for ongoing stress and the many ways it manifests - including anxiety, depression, burnout, perfectionism, self-soothing through substances and/or emotional eating/restricting, challenging relationships with self and others, and/or having a sense that something has felt off for a while and are not sure where to begin. I strive to offer anti-racist and gender-affirming care. Although I mostly work with women and teen girls, I welcome gender non-conforming individuals and women who are exploring gender and sexuality.

With mindfulness and
somatic
based from Gestalt and Hakomi methods, I also integrate Humanistic, Existential, Liberation and Transpersonal Psychology, Psychoanalysis, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Play Therapy and PACT couple therapy, etc into my practice.
I am a SF Bay area based counselor and I have been working with people from various cultural backgrounds, from young kids, adolescents to adults. I was trained by Gestalt and Hakomi therapy. I believe in the power of mindfulness and how much information (trauma, wounds, core beliefs) that the body carries and evolves through habits, feelings and sensations according to our day to day, moment by moment life experience.

I host an online community where you can receive
somatic
meditations to practice with on your own.
Most importantly, my ideal client is someone who is desiring and ready for change. You may feel stuck in some aspect of your life such as career or relationships. You may have suffered a traumatic event. You may be experiencing symptoms of anxiety and depression. And you have reached a point when you are ready to take action even if you don't quite know what that will look like yet. What I love most is accompanying someone on their journey inward, offering a safe space for you to be fully you.

I use theoretical orientations such as Jungian depth psychotherapy, object relations, and
somatic
approaches to understanding my clients and helping them connect to different unconscious fragments of themselves.
Often, our past relationships leave us wounded. The story that we tell ourselves becomes permeated with negative thoughts, low self-worth, and shame. As these feelings manifest, we become anxious and depressed. Therapy can help us discover perspectives that create a new narrative, one in which we have different ways to manage our emotions and lead a more enjoyable life.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
