I also work with members of the BDSM,
kink
, and poly communities and create a safe space for the development of new paradigms and beliefs.
Throughout our lives, we all have experienced feelings of depression, anxiety, and anger. These emotions leave you feeling insecure, shameful, lonely, unworthy and stuck in unhealthy patterns of behavior. Trauma can have negative emotional and physical effects and can lead to family/relationship issues. I specialize in solution-focused brief therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness and CBT. These approaches allow me to work with the client to decrease symptoms of anxiety and depression and other health/behavioral issues.

Embodiment, Collective Liberation, Authenticity, Relationships, Queer Affirming, Sexuality and Gender Exploration, Childhood Trauma, Poly,
Kink
, Sex +, Psychedelic Integration. Life is a wild ride. There are so many conflicting feelings, beliefs and stories that we tell ourselves and that are told to us. Navigating the systems of the external world along with our internal and relational worlds is often overwhelming, exhausting and painful. Relating spaciously and curiously with differing parts of self and excavating old narratives can help in honoring all of who we are and invite permission to create and relate in new ways.

I help adults and teens looking to become more aware, learn and better themselves. Maybe there is something that needs to shift/change or maybe it is just a growth-oriented process. I have done a lot of my work with people who identify as Trans/Gender Non-Conforming/Nonbinary. Other queer populations who I have a lot of experience helping include couples, polyamorous relationships, the Latinx community, long-term HIV survivors, and gay/Queer men. You might be questioning your sexual desires or wondering if you and your partner are still compatible. I help clients overcome their sexual and relational difficulties to feel confident in and outside the bedroom. Together, we will collaborate on how to help you reach your goals, through therapy sessions and home assignments.

Do other therapists seem judgmental? Don't understand? Won't listen to you? If you need to talk about anything and everything, clients tell me I have a strong capacity for compassion, empathy, and care. At the same time, I’m forthright and candid. I see you and hear you—a whole person (body, mind, spirit) living in an interactive and interconnected world. I believe you're the expert in you - even if you're not yet aware of it. My role is to help you find that, and bring my own holistic vision, experience, training, expertise, and tools to the table, so you can work to be the best possible version of you.

Anxiety is a universal and painful experience. Its causes are legion: abandonment, fear of failure (or success), transitions, traumas, aging and death. Supporting you in transforming your anxiety into positive growth will be our goal. Transpersonal hypnotherapy is invaluable in addressing grief, death and dying. In dealing with loss, we will create connections through hypnosis to address what remains incomplete. As my essential paradigm is empowerment, I serve as your guide, facilitating experiences in a grounded, safe way with your full participation. Hypnotherapy, free of the constraints of adult language patterns, offers a primary road to healing your deepest self.

In sex therapy, I create a safe, sex-positive space to address concerns relating to sexual health and intimacy for couples and individuals (queer, ENM, &
kink
friendly).
These are really tough times, aren't they? Existing issues feel bigger and it can be that much harder to cope. Therapy can heIp. I approach therapy in a warm and collaborative manner to help couples, individuals, and families identify new and adaptive ways to deal with life's challenges. In couples therapy, I use Emotion-Focused and Gottman approaches to help partners learn to manage and repair conflict, rebuild trust and intimacy, and build emotional connections. In family treatment, I'll work with your family to develop adaptive and healthy communication patterns, as well as address parenting concerns and behavioral issues.

Sex-Positive, Kink Allied Therapists
Why might an individual want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?
A sex-positive or kinky individual may want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist because the client may feel safer and more supported discussing their experiences and challenges. A therapist who identifies as kink-friendly will have experience with clients having diverse sexual preferences and will likely be nonjudgmental and supportive about issues brought to the table. It is important to note that sex-positive, kink-allied individuals may find equal success with therapists who do not have such specialized knowledge and background. The most important factor in the success of therapy is for the client and practitioner to form a strong, trusting bond.
Do therapists have special training to gain expertise in sex-positive, kink-allied treatment?
Generally, no. There are limited training programs and unofficial accreditations that therapists can pursue, but a therapist’s expertise will ultimately come from their previous experience with similar clients, their engagement with organizations that promote sex positivity or kink-allied lifestyles, and the importance they place on safety and cultural sensitivity.
How can individuals recognize a good sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?
An experienced therapist is able to help clients explore their sexual identity and expression and relieve any discomfort or stigma attached to discussing such matters and the client’s overall challenges. A therapist who is sex-positive and kink-allied is able to create an environment that honors a client’s experience and sexual preferences. To recognize a good therapist, clients can simply ask directly about topics and issues important to them and gauge their comfort level and connection with a clinician based on the responses.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist with a focus on sex positivity and alternative sexual lifestyles?
Some individuals may feel most comfortable knowing that the clinician they’re working with has a commitment to creating an atmosphere of sex positivity and has experience with relationship diversity and alternative relationship structures. Working with a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist may help clients respect their own challenges and improve identity-affirming treatment.
