Practicing and learning new ways of thinking, reacting, and understanding are possible within the safety of a therapy relationship in which old beliefs are challenged and new ones are tested. Practicing new behaviors is easier when you understand why you needed the old one and feel ready to try the new. I am interactive and respectful of each person's uniqueness. Psychotherapy can be a deeply moving experience as well as transformative, and I can help you address and transform the inner beliefs and interpersonal difficulties that sabotage your success in love, friendship, and work. Years of experience have seasoned me as a clinician.

I am a culturally sensitive psychologist, author, and mental wellness public speaker in San Francisco, who will create a safe space that distinctively fits your needs to help on your journey toward healing and growth. I understand we often find ourselves feeling lost, overwhelmed, abandoned, or may be at a loss of how we feel, because we’ve arrived at that familiar place of despair and ruminating self doubt. My hope is to provide an opportunity to disentangle from suffering, which may lead to improved quality of life, greater satisfaction within relationships, increased productivity, and enhanced self-worth and compassion.

The essence of my work lies in creating a relationship with you in which you would feel safe to engage in an inner journey home - opening your heart to yourself, cultivating compassionate self-understanding and developing trust in what is being felt in the moment. Old hurts and self-defeating beliefs can cause us to defend against vulnerable feelings impacting our capacity to trust, ourselves and others, and our ability to connect intimately, think positively regarding our deepest life concerns and open to love, allowing it to work its way through us impacting and inspiring all areas of our life.

My approach to psychotherapy is holistic. I not only treat the "tip of the iceberg" problems, but also address the deeper, "bottom of the ocean," issues. I treat the whole person and honor the mind-body-spirit connections, taking into account the client's cultural, religious and ethnic background, ancestry, race and immigration history. I recognize the complexity of each person's history and circumstances and employ a wide variety of techniques to guide my clients in their self-discovery.

Trauma & anxiety can leave us feeling broken, damaged, and disconnected from our true selves. You may be fed up with feeling overwhelmed throughout the day, isolated from friends who don't understand, or unable to set and maintain boundaries that put you first. You may not even remember a time you didn’t feel this way. Either way, one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to enjoy deep and loving relationships without your past getting in the way. You’re ready to create more confidence around your needs. Most of all, you’re ready to love yourself again & to face your future with a sense of hope.

Welcome! I view therapy as a means by which we can increase curiosity about ourselves and the world around us. We'll work together to identify patterns and stuck points that may be impacting your relationships, work, school, and other parts of your life. Taking steps towards healing and self-discovery can be daunting. As a therapist, I work to create a safe, supportive space in which you feel secure in exploring the parts of your life that may feel overwhelming. Whether you are coming to therapy for self-exploration or for a specific concern, I look forward to being part of your healing journey.

How can I find a therapist in San Francisco?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
