People who decide to work with me are looking for someone who they feel comfortable sharing with. Someone who understands them culturally. Someone who can restore hope, work with them to implement healthier thought patterns, increase desired behaviors and empower them. People who work with me want better for themselves but feel stuck.

Welcome, Salaam and Namaste! It is my honor to walk alongside you on your healing journey . I specialize in trauma care as I have several years of experience working with veterans, children and adults experiencing trauma related to sexual, emotional, physical and combat trauma. Many clients come to therapy looking for relief from long-held pain, anxiety, and unresolved experiences. Therapy can feel vulnerable and challenging, but with the right fit, it can become a deeply transformative space for both the client and the therapist.

Whether it’s your first time in therapy or your fifth, you deserve to feel seen and held in your strengths and struggles. I bring a warm, grounding presence and a space to explore what it means to feel whole. Being in your body may feel unfamiliar, uncomfortable, or unsafe. One moment, you’re activated and on edge; the next, you’re disconnected and moving through fog, while trying to balance it all. You carry stress and trauma as you heal from sexual violence or emotional harm, grieve chronic/invisible illness and health changes, or struggle with body image and eating concerns. You're drained, yearning for ways to cope and heal.

Relationships do not have to feel stressful. Whether these stressors are symptoms of a diagnosis, or a life event, therapy is a way to provide yourself with the support required to better navigate your circumstances. Exploring your inner world with creativity, and compassion are key to my approach.

I also offer consultations to mental health providers on the topic of Muslim intersectional identities.
I believe that the current framework of "mental illness" tells us that we are the problem. You are not the problem. While society encourages us to “fix” or “stop” painful emotional experiences, I hope to remove the expectation that we need “fixing” in order to thrive. I want to help you feel more connected, authentic and empowered in yourself and in your relationships. Together, we can incorporate and honor all of who you are (mind, body, spirit, community) and begin a healing journey that is centered on the foundation you want for your life and your future.

Hey there, I'm Dina! I am so here for the Girls, Gays, and Theys. I support teens and adults experiencing life transitions, relational trauma, identity exploration, burnout, and disordered eating. I practice EMDR, Brainspotting, Narrative Therapy, as well as integrate Feminist and Queer Theory into sessions. I am familiar with Arab, Latinx, and collectivistic cultures, which can make processing family, values, roles, and ongoing trauma that much smoother (I know it's bumpy). I adapt my approaches to be Neurodivergent affirming, which supports folks to slow down, increase self compassion, and address systems of harm.

Do you feel stuck in your personal life or your relationship? Are your thoughts of constant worry, hopelessness, uncertainty overwhelming your day-to-day journey? Have you decided it's time that you approach these feelings and emotions head-on? Therapy is a brave and powerful first step towards exploring what might be contributing to these feelings. I help address these experiences by utilizing a goal-oriented and solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral approach (CBT). I work with clients to help support them in bringing their strength in the room and allowing them to be able to get in touch with their inner self.

It’s hard to feel like yourself when you’re stressed, exhausted, and haven't had a decent night's sleep in weeks. If that sounds familiar, let’s talk. I help adults find their balance by looking at the one thing we often ignore: sleep. Sleep shapes mood, patience, attention, physical pain, relationships, and how we move through the world. Sleep is the ultimate 'spoiler’, it’s usually the first sign that something is not right. My goal is to help you explore your emotions, the impact of your past, and the things keeping you from having good sleep.

“The doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door.” – Clarissa Pinkola Estés. Healing often begins with what feels broken—grief, confusion, or a part of ourselves we’ve learned to silence. Whether it’s the imprint of trauma, a painful relational pattern, or a transformative experience that shifted your inner world, the work isn’t about fixing who you are. It’s about remembering, reconnecting, and reclaiming the Self that’s been there all along.

Muslim Therapists
Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?
A culturally sensitive therapist will be respectful of faith, race, sexual orientation, gender, age, disabilities, or anything that is relevant to an individual’s reasons for seeking therapy. This mental health practitioner will therefore be able to recognize the role of faith in a client’s life, and they can appreciate the cultural values and beliefs of others. Cultural sensitivity on the part of the therapist may enhance the possibility of a strong therapeutic bond, even if the clinician does not have an extensive understanding of a client’s background before therapy begins.

How might I inquire about a therapist's experience with Muslim clients?
It is best to ask directly whether a therapist has worked with Muslim clients, and if so, the extent to which cultural or religious principles factored into their work together. You can also ask whether a therapist who is familiar with Islamic practices, values, and beliefs incorporates them into their professional work, and if so, how. If the therapist does not have a sufficient knowledge base, they may well know and can refer you to someone who has such experience.

What if the therapist does not have my exact background?
It is not necessary for a therapist to share one’s exact religious background for therapy to be successful. A qualified and culturally sensitive therapist will appreciate diversity within the Muslim community as well as diversity overall, and will have a sense of how religious and cultural issues can contribute to mental health. In addition, a good therapist would be willing to learn from their clients.

How do I recognize an effective Muslim therapist?
Like all therapists, a Muslim therapist who is effective will have the requisite training and expertise in evidence-based techniques, as well as the ability to connect with you on a personal level. An effective Muslim therapist may also demonstrate a clear understanding of your cultural background and faith. A therapist with such cultural sensitivity will set the stage for a strong therapeutic alliance.

Who is included in Psychology Today's directory of the Muslim faith?
The directory of Muslim therapists includes mental health providers who have shared their cultural background in their profiles. Psychology Today uses this information to assist clients in finding a therapist with a similar background. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. When the number of therapists identified as Muslim is limited, the directory will also show therapists with extensive experience working with clients from relevant backgrounds.
