Modern life can feel like a paradox. Surrounded by technology meant to bring connection, ease, and order to our lives, you may instead feel isolated, anxious, and overwhelmed. Bombarded by reminders about the value of purpose, meaning, and contentment, you may find yourself feeling disoriented, distracted, and insufficient. You are far from alone. There is a path toward feeling whole. And I encourage you to nourish the seed of hope that brought you to search for a therapist.

Everything sucks right now. I get it. I understand feeling stuck under the weight of deep emotional pain. Let me help you cultivate and live a meaningful life, even in the midst of struggle, impasses, and change. Even in the current state of the world. We will foster trust in yourself, your wisdom and values leading the way, and set you on a path of living a better life. For many Asian Americans and POC, there is struggle to find a therapist who relates to you from shared cultural experience. As a second generation Taiwanese/Chinese American, I can offer you that, with curiosity about your particular story and influences.

Life can feel overwhelming when challenges like anxiety, depression, grief, conflict, or unhelpful patterns seem to block your path. But these struggles don’t define who you are or what’s possible for you.

I specialize in treating OCD and anxiety disorders using evidence-based treatments (specifically ERP, CBT, DBT, and ACT - if you don't know these acronyms yet, that's okay!).
Hi, I’m Kayla. Are fear and anxiety holding you back from living your life? I’m confident I can help! Anxiety presents in many ways: you might notice intrusive thoughts or doubts leading to a constant need for reassurance. You might be weighed down by life’s “what ifs.” You may sometimes feel like you’re trapped in your mind, spiraling through worst case scenarios. Anxiety can make day-to-day life very challenging. But you can conquer it, and I’m excited to show you how.

When I ask my clients what brings them to therapy, I am often told it is because they are feeling “stuck.” Many of my clients struggle with questions related to values and life purpose. Others may require support navigating difficult transitions, setting boundaries, or overcoming burnout in their professional lives and relationships. I specialize in the treatment of stress, anxiety, depression and ADHD using evidence-based approaches. Additionally, I provide preparation/integration for therapeutic ketamine sessions, helping you to make sense of and assimilate the insights you gained during these experiences into your daily life.

So much of our deepest pain shows up in our relationships—with partners, family and even within ourselves. You might find yourself in repetitive cycles of conflict, distance or misunderstanding with someone you love, or you may feel stuck in patterns of self-criticism, anxiety or disconnection from who you are. Whether you’re struggling in your relationship or navigating challenges on your own, it can feel overwhelming to face it without support. In our work together, I offer a space where you can slow down and feel truly heard.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists
Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?
Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?
Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?
While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?
The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
