I see the choice to begin therapy as an act of self-empowerment. Whether you need support for a difficult life transition, notice ingrained patterns that you want to shift, or seek personal growth, initiating therapy is already paving the way for change. I believe that we are inherently relational beings, and that sharing our whole selves within the support of a trusting relationship is an important component of healing. From this place of truth, we can work together to make meaning of your challenges and leverage them into opportunities for growth and change.

Using DBT, EMDR, brainspotting, IFS, and somatic work, I tailor therapy to you.
You’re carrying wounds that aren’t just yours. Patterns of trauma, oppression, and survival passed down through generations. Maybe you’ve been told to “just move on,” but the weight of racial trauma, cultural expectations, and systemic injustice lingers. You feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, self-doubt, or emotional highs and lows, wondering if healing is even possible. You want to break free! Not just for yourself, but for those who come after you. You need a therapist who understands the complexities of identity, trauma, and resilience. You’re ready to reclaim your story and build a future that’s yours and not shaped by past pain.

I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR), which can address symptoms and emotional distress caused by traumatic events.
I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ identified folx, highly empathic or sensitive individuals (HSPs), and those who are dealing with the impacts of antagonistic or high-conflict individuals. Life can feel overwhelming. Within a collaborative setting, we can explore ways to make life feel more manageable and, ultimately, more enjoyable. The quality of the therapeutic relationship itself has been shown to significantly influence treatment outcomes. My approach emphasizes authenticity and the idea that growth can happen while in a nourishing setting.

I'm a childhood trauma specialist and offer a variety of therapy approaches, like attachment-focused EMDR, somatic therapy, and inner child work like IFT and TIST.
It may be time for a fresh strategy if talk therapy has left you still battling extreme anxiety, a harsh inner critic telling you you're "not good enough," an "imposter," or you helplessly repeat the same annoying habits like perfectionism, people-pleasing, or procrastination. Unfortunately, people tend to blame themselves for feeling stuck, unaware that their biology plays a key role. I guide clients to engage their innate healing potential with evidence-based therapies. This helps free them from ingrained habits or conditions that resist change. There's hope! Let's see if I can help you too.

I am an expert in PTSD and trauma and am certified in evidence-based & informed treatments for PTSD (CPT, PE, EMDR, ACT, DBT skills) from a culturally-affirming lens.
Trauma does not discriminate. It can happen to anyone no matter their circumstances. Fortunately, there are also treatments that can help. In my 20 years of experience, I have born witness to the incredible resilience of individuals who have experienced trauma and firmly believe that recovery is possible. I have expertise in working with survivors of all forms of trauma including (but not limited to) service members, veterans, journalists (JTSN certificate), childhood abuse, chronic invalidation, developmental trauma, intergenerational trauma, immigration-related trauma, race-based trauma, and interpersonal violence.

I utilize CBT to explore and reframe negative thought patterns, DBT to equip you with coping skills for anxiety & depression, and EMDR to understand your trauma and unconscious desire and promote insight for lasting change.
Do you feel as though your anxiety and depression are unmanageable? How about feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or helplessness like you’ve hit rock bottom and are struggling to find hope for tomorrow? Once we start to unravel the details of our past and trauma we give ourselves the ability to process feelings that we have long suppressed. I aim to collaborate with you and provide tools to decrease the challenging feelings you are currently facing and achieve a more integrated and balanced sense of self, leading to emotional healing and personal growth.

Stepping into therapy with someone is an inherently risky process. You are courageously opening up to someone that you don't really know, in hopes of changing, of finding something new, of building a relationship that can create positive change. I respect those who take the leap and I get the importance that you find the right therapist so that you can be understood at a deep level and begin looking more closely at the places in your life that you would like to see change.

All of these feelings can take a toll on our daily lives, sense of self and relationships. However with the right therapeutic support those feelings can decrease or become easier and more manageable. I also have a special interest in supporting individuals and couples who have breast cancer or have experienced breast cancer and its lasting impacts. I’m an out-of-network provider.

Therapy is a supportive, nonjudgmental space to process complex and challenging aspects of life. Increasing our awareness is the first step in forging new paths forward, and relinquishing strategies that no longer serve us. We all deserve to suffer less and therapy can help by offering a safe, supportive relationship to explore conscious and unconscious motivations and strategies; things that have helped us be successful in the past but are no longer serving us - and might even be the source of our current suffering.

Therapy provides an opportunity to slow down amidst the rapid paces of our lives and look around to explore the ways we cope with difficulty. Ultimately, this teaches us more about who we truly are. Pain is inevitable in our lives, but it can function as a window into our truer, deeper selves. Contacting and nurturing the parts of ourselves that have been hurt, shamed, or neglected helps us to more fully embody our unique selves and find freedom from the constraints of our suffering.

I am trained in EMDR and have found that incorporating EMDR supports lasting and deep change for my clients..
Pain is part of what makes us human; the way we move through pain is how we grow. Our work together can strengthen resilience and equanimity when confronting the challenges that life inevitably brings. I work collaboratively and compassionately with my clients to help them develop a nurturing and dynamic sense of self, community, and the world, fostering stronger connection to the people and resources that can support them outside of therapy.

Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
