Therapy is a highly individualized process: It can be about bringing awareness to challenges you're experiencing and giving you the skills and insight you need to change how you interact with them, and it can also be about reprocessing distressing events so as to be able to move past them.

I come from a humanistic and existential therapeutic background- placing a high value on human capacities, including ones own free will, self determination, and search for meaning. Whether you are seeking therapy to approach or work through a despair within yourself and/or your relationship, have difficulty navigating through life transitions, managing a psychological condition such as anxiety, depression, or trauma, the choice to engage in therapy is a brave and invaluable one

Do you "have it all" but feel unsatisfied? We live in an era where we grew up being told we could have everything we wanted, however, we are quickly realizing that having everything does not bring us lasting joy and instead burns us out. I am here to help individuals minimize their life to invest their time and energy into what truly matters. When working with me, you’ll find that my style is exploratory and extremely action-oriented while being genuine, honest, and humorous. My passion lies in working with individuals who are exploring patterns that are no longer serving them so that they can be the best version of themselves.

I gravitate towards a mixture of cognitive behavioral therapy,
dialectical
behavioral therapy, solution-focused, and eye-movement de-sensitization reprocessing (EMDR) in my practice because each client is unique in their walk of life and there is no one-size-fits-all therapy.
With over 10 years of clinical experience, my warm, gentle, and compassionate personality mixed with a "let's call it what it is" twist in sessions has helped me to work effectively with a wide range of adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss, life transition, to relationship and communication problems. My role as a therapist is that of a listener, a collaborative problem solver, and a teacher/coach to help you better understand yourself and learn skills to regulate your emotions and behaviors.

dialectical
behavior therapy (
DBT
), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) cognitive processing therapy (CPT), anger management therapy, and psychodynamic approaches.
My approach to psychotherapy is a collaborative and flexible partnership with each client. I believe that trust, respect, non-judgment, genuineness, and compassion form the foundation of a therapeutic relationship. Through the process of psychotherapy, I endeavor to help clients gain insight and perspective into their relationships and behaviors with the intention of achieving positive change. We will work in tandem to identify treatment goals and expectations at the outset of treatment, and will ensure that the focus of therapy is on the most salient issues.

As a clinician I work mainly from behavioral and psychodynamic perspectives, relying on training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and
Dialectical
Behavior Therapy (
DBT
) to support clients in healing painful experiences, managing stress, other mental health struggles, and relationship issues. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked as a Marketing and Project Manager in Silicon Valley’s high-tech industry, having that experience has helped me to also have a successful track record in working with professionals facing job stress, addiction issues, and burnout — some of whom want to make big changes in their careers.

In my practice, I also use IFST (Internal Family Systems Therapy), CBT,
DBT
and Coping Skills Development.
In my clinical practice, I emphasize a psychodynamic approach to look at your past and present and how that may influence how you make decisions moving forward. I also use a relationship-based therapy approach with a strength-based frame to help you develop coping skills and protective factors against stressors and negative relationships. I do well with those who are experiencing symptoms of Depression, Anxiety and Somatic Mind-Body connection.

I like to help my clients learn about intense emotions coming in waves like on an ocean and how to notice body sensations which then escalate into undesired behaviors. With a combination of CBT and
DBT
tools, I like to educate my clients about the purpose and necessity of all emotions and how to step away from feelings that could result in "problem behaviors" which only make things worse. Once we learn how to manage this phenomena, we can feel successful to move on to work on more difficult relationships in our adult lives that cause us trouble whether it be interpersonal familial, or work.

Who is DBT for?
DBT is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.
Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.
What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
