My passion and specialization is working with
children
and their families, which I have experience with in both school and private practice settings. Do you have
children
who are bullied at school or are the bully? Do you have
children
who are failing their classes or seem uncharacteristically anxious or depressed? Are you going through a separation with your partner and wonder how it is affecting your
children
? If you are, I can help. Other prevelent issues in my work with both adults and
children
include: grief and loss, substance abuse, anger management, family reunification, divorce, and romantic relationships.

It’s ok to not be ok. As moms, we want nothing more than to keep our
children
safe and raise them to be fulfilled and happy. When unexpected trauma occurs, it upsets the life we had envisioned for them, and brings fear, uncertainty, and other big emotions that no
child
should have to handle - and no parent could be prepared to handle. We can't change what happened, but we can walk with you and your
child
to make sure you aren't navigating the process alone.

Are you tired of the power struggles with your toddler or preschooler? Are you navigating life changing events with your
child
, such as loss, divorce, adoption, moving, traumatic accidents or events? Does your little one have challenges in life with special needs and developmental delays? One of the hardest part of parenting is seeing your
child
being in pain and feeling like there is nothing you can do to help. I support families with young
children
to transform what seems like daily survival struggles into thriving in life and in relationships.

"Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of overcoming it." Helen Keller. Those words have been a source of inspiration to me for years as a person and a psychotherapist. I have worked with many people who have been brave enough to try to understand and make changes to what they struggle with in life, and also to live life more fully, creatively, and lovingly.

My work is to help people discover this hidden other place from which their impulses and motivations flow, in an attempt at answering the questions of 'why am I this way?' and 'where am I going?' It works when it is a collaboration which can focus your insight at your future. My experience is detailed and extensive with both adult and
child
therapies. I also do infant parent psychotherapy geared at helping parents adapt to the new person the baby represents in their lives. Relationships, Depression, Identity, and Motivational issues respond to the work I do.

I use verbal and non-verbal methods with
children
to help communicate upsets, relieve stress and adopt adaptive coping strategies.
My therapeutic approach is warm, respectful, active, engaged, compassionate and focused. My clinical framework is guided by convictions that individuals possess intrinsic drives toward health, happiness and love. When this inner wisdom becomes obscured by life's struggles, or when a
child
's development sways off course, I provide a space to reflect, regain perspective, and help individuals make adaptive choices and coping strategies that lend to greater fulfillment in play, school, work and relationships.

Specializing in therapy with
children
, adolescents, and women, I provide a safe space to discuss, explore, and address difficult issues and life events.
I support young people to find their voice, become more self confident, and communicate in a way that expresses their needs. Many times there is a disconnect between behavior and desires. I work closely to increase awareness of why these behaviors are happening and encourage an awareness to begin to identify triggers, with an overall goal of self awareness and self control.

For a parent nothing is harder then seeing your
child
suffer, experience pain, or just not feeling like themselves.
Beginning therapy is not easy. Finding the right therapist in San Francisco can feel daunting. Examining one’s difficulties requires courage and resolve. Feelings of reluctance and apprehension are common and understandable. But, therapy is a long-term investment in yourself and in your desire to live a fuller, more satisfying life. With a lot of effort and patience, the therapeutic process can pays off. If you’re interested in starting therapy I recommend we have two or three initial meetings to see how it feels to talk and think together.

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.
How long are sessions with child therapists?
Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.
How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?
The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.
How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
