I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, and trauma.
Are you hindered by anxiety, depression, or trauma, preventing you from expressing your authentic self? Do you find yourself trapped in navigating challenging family and relationship situations? The constant exhaustion, stress, and anger make you question your resilience. Unsure of where to seek assistance, you don't have to endure this painful journey by yourself. I aim to assist you in achieving a more integrated and balanced sense of self.

I’m skilled at working with anxiety, trauma/PTSD/CPTSD, life transitions, grief and loss, and LGBTQIA+ issues.
It may be hard to believe, but our most troubling habits and patterns began as strategies that once helped us deal with challenging or even dangerous circumstances. The difficulties that feel burdensome to you now—rumination, self-defeating behaviors, problematic relationship dynamics, stubborn emotional cycles—actually helped you survive in the past. And because they helped you survive, it takes more than just understanding and willpower to unravel them—it takes deeper work that engages both the body and mind. I weave together multiple therapeutic modalities into an approach tailored to your needs, goals, and whole self.

When we get stuck in any of these areas, that's when emotional difficulties can arise like depression, anxiety, addictions, fragile self-esteem, and family conflict.
Sometimes it can be very difficult to get relief from emotional problems on your own. It's hard to dedicate the time and space to figure it out. Often the situation feels too confusing and hopeless to confront alone. In my practice, I work together with people grappling with universal struggles such as how to connect with others more freely and build healthy relationships, how to identify work that is meaningful to you and feel successful doing it, how to be more accepting of yourself, and how to move on from past trauma and disappointments.

I believe in walking alongside individuals through their life experiences in a non-judgmental way, especially those processing past traumas to achieve a more fulfilling life. People are not defined by their circumstances and do not need to live self-punishing lives. Personal insight and growth are strengths that enhance relationships. Working with people is my passion, and I believe your past does not define your future. Therapy provides a space to be vulnerable and explore fears and difficult emotions you may not feel comfortable sharing with family and friends.

I help people who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties.
If you're feeling stuck or overwhelmed, I would like to provide a place to think about what's troubling you and find new ways forward. We can work to understand the deeper patterns that shape your experiences and relationships. Your history, relationships, and internal conflicts all matter in making sense of current struggles. In our work together, we’ll consider what drives your reactions and choices in ways that may not be immediately obvious. My aim is to help you develop greater self-understanding, find more satisfying ways to navigate life’s challenges, and to provide an attentive, supportive environment for this work.

Many people, perhaps like yourself, find relationship issues with family, spouses, work colleagues very challenging and often these relationships evoke anxiety, anger and fear. Some people have had very difficult upbringings, and while they appear to cope, they are often emotionally surviving rather than thriving. This is a valid reason to seek therapeutic attention.

I utilize CBT to explore and reframe negative thought patterns, DBT to equip you with coping skills for anxiety & depression and psychodynamic therapy to understand your trauma and unconscious desire and promote insight for lasting change.
Do you feel as though your anxiety and depression are unmanageable? How about feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or helplessness like you’ve hit rock bottom and are struggling to find hope for tomorrow? Once we start to unravel the details of our past and trauma we give ourselves the ability to process feelings that we have long suppressed. I aim to collaborate with you and provide tools to decrease the challenging feelings you are currently facing and achieve a more integrated and balanced sense of self, leading to emotional healing and personal growth.

If you're struggling with anxiety, depression, feeling stuck, burnt-out, or giving more than you are getting in your relationships, these are signs telling you it's time for a change. I work with individuals and couples that want to shift patterns such as co-dependency, self-criticism, boundary issues, and difficulty in intimate relationships. I also work with people who want to learn more about themselves through understanding their childhood family dynamics and trauma. I am trained in EMDR therapy (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), a highly effective tool for coping with and healing trauma.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
