I have 32 years of experience providing counseling. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, stressing that what we think determines what we feel and what we do. For many reasons, people learn unrealistic or destructive thoughts that cause them problems in their lives. Therapy works towards more realistic thinking, and avoiding old and destructive thinking. As I like to say, "therapy is a conversation with a destination," and realistic thinking is that destination. While I am a Christian, I am not trained as a Christian Counselor. I am a "Counselor who is a Christian."

You’re insightful and capable, yet something keeps looping—stress, anxiety, low mood, people-pleasing, or relationship patterns that drain you. You want clarity, steadier coping, and a way to respond (not react). In a calm, nonjudgmental space, we slow down and think together. I help you name what’s happening inside, trace patterns to their roots, and practice new skills. We’ll set goals that fit your life and build healthier boundaries, communication, and self-trust so you can manage stress effectively and feel more grounded day to day.

Though no two treatments are the same, I specialize in treating addiction, anger, anxiety, and depression, and also specialize in resolving deeper internal conflicts related to identity, relationships, sexuality, and shame.
Life can be incredibly hard, and there is no "manual" for how to navigate life's overwhelming situations and complex emotional experiences. During these tough times, it's common to feel "stuck" and desperately wanting solutions, while struggling to identify them on your own. At this juncture, the objectivity, support, and insight of a licensed clinical psychologist can help you to move through this time in your life. I have witnessed this process, personally, and helped many clients persevere through intense periods of conflict and pain.

I became a therapist after working for many years in business and finance. I was fortunate to then complete a master's and subsequently a doctoral program in Psychology. This professional and academic experience supports the therapy I've been providing for over a decade. By connecting academic theories with my clients' real-life situations and an empathic and thoughtful style, I seek to help clients understand themselves better while supporting their movement forward in positive directions.

You feel miles apart from your partner, from your body, or from the calm you remember having. You experience waves of depression or sadness. You avoid conversations, have anxiety about sexual performance, or a breakup has lowered your self-esteem. You want clear answers and real change: ease your mind, intimacy that feels natural, and warm relationships. Your goal is to understand what’s getting in the way and replace it with confidence, connection, and a sex life that actually works for you both.

I have provided therapy for individuals (children K-12 and adults), families, groups, and couple sessions for over ten years. My modality is Cognitive Behavioral which means we believe it is not the event itself but how we perceive and react to the circumstance that may cause a problem. We will explore different possibilities through our session and discover what may serve us the best in pursuing happiness.

Some common reasons people come into therapy with me are: dissatisfaction with life and relationships, feeling isolated and alone, anger, patterns of co-dependence or care taking, drug abuse and addiction (computers included), desire to find purpose in life and step into power, feelings of self-judgment, anxiety and depression.
Stepping into therapy with someone is an inherently risky process. You are courageously opening up to someone that you don't really know, in hopes of changing, of finding something new, of building a relationship that can create positive change. I respect those who take the leap and I get the importance that you find the right therapist so that you can be understood at a deep level and begin looking more closely at the places in your life that you would like to see change.

I particularly enjoy working on men's issues. I approach my work as a mental health professional from a humanistic and client-centered perspective. I believe that rapport and trust are essential to an effective therapeutic relationship. I believe it is my role to help clients establish goals and stay on target in meeting them. This sometimes involves a more directive style of therapy. My experience ranges from community mental health, residential treatment, and private practice.

I’m a warm, compassionate, and persistent 51-year-old who loves this work. Clients often feel like they’re having an insightful, heartfelt conversation rather than a formal therapy session. I create a space of deep listening and acceptance where you can explore your inner world safely and honestly. By helping you understand and care for the parts of yourself that carry pain or conflict, we ease anxiety and depression and open the door to greater balance and emotional freedom.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
