Some common reasons people come into therapy with me are: dissatisfaction with life and relationships, feeling isolated and alone,
anger
, patterns of co-dependence or care taking, drug abuse and addiction (computers included), desire to find purpose in life and step into power, feelings of self-judgment, anxiety and depression.
Stepping into therapy with someone is an inherently risky process. You are courageously opening up to someone that you don't really know, in hopes of changing, of finding something new, of building a relationship that can create positive change. I respect those who take the leap and I get the importance that you find the right therapist so that you can be understood at a deep level and begin looking more closely at the places in your life that you would like to see change.

anger
or depression? If so, you are in the right place. Do you have goals you'd like to achieve (any goal imaginable) and are struggling to reach these goals? If so, you are ALSO in the right place. I can provide you the tools to be more in control of your thoughts, emotions and behaviors, live your life in a "flow state," and actualize your dreams and desires.

Though no two treatments are the same, I specialize in treating addiction,
anger
, anxiety, and depression, and also specialize in resolving deeper internal conflicts related to identity, relationships, sexuality, and shame.
Life can be incredibly hard, and there is no "manual" for how to navigate life's overwhelming situations and complex emotional experiences. During these tough times, it's common to feel "stuck" and desperately wanting solutions, while struggling to identify them on your own. At this juncture, the objectivity, support, and insight of a licensed clinical psychologist can help you to move through this time in your life. I have witnessed this process, personally, and helped many clients persevere through intense periods of conflict and pain.

Embrace your
anger
rather than fear it.
Pain is a part of life, but pain does not have to control your life. Let's face it -- the reality of pain is not the problem. How you are responding to that reality is. Addiction, loss, betrayal, change, and trauma are just a few of the ways in which pain shows up and seemingly takes over our lives. The ultimate goal of Bayview Counseling Services is NOT to remove the pain of life and living, but to help you to live your life fully and effectively in spite of the pain. Who's in charge of your life -- you or your pain?

I work with a wide variety of issues:
anger
, depression, anxiety, loneliness, grief, aging consciously and gracefully, and couples therapy as a spiritual practice.
The essence of my work lies in creating a relationship with you in which you would feel safe to engage in an inner journey home - opening your heart to yourself, cultivating compassionate self-understanding and developing trust in what is being felt in the moment. Old hurts and self-defeating beliefs can cause us to defend against vulnerable feelings impacting our capacity to trust, ourselves and others, and our ability to connect intimately, think positively regarding our deepest life concerns and open to love, allowing it to work its way through us impacting and inspiring all areas of our life.

Many of my clients are successful professionals who are beginning to question whether they are on the right path. Some are searching for a more creative or spiritual way of life. Others crave relationships of greater substance. Still others seek clarity of purpose. Most feel limited by notions of what they have to be or do for the sake of others. You may have something in common with these people.

Let’s work together if you’re an adult suffering from depression, anxiety, difficult family dynamics, unhealthy relationships, experiencing cross-cultural challenges, transitions in life/school/career stages, gender/sexuality identity,
anger
, or just need overall support in working through interpersonal struggles and finding motivation.
As a therapist, I enjoy cultivating authentic relationships with clients and learning about the communities in which you both thrive in and have endured pain in. I’m curious about how you connect with others and how your past experiences impact your relationships and the energy you carry every day. Cross-cultural differences, family systems, and past trauma can make navigating our interpersonal relationships messy and cloud our thoughts. We’ll explore your narrative and the lens through which you see yourself to better understand and rebuild your relationship with yourself and others.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
