My style is warm, accepting, interactive, and emotionally focused .
My work is grounded in helping people feel more like themselves, more connected in relationships, and less anxious or depressed. Together we can work to understand parts of you that may feel lost, stuck, or in pain, find new ways of relating to yourself and to others, and help you come into a more full sense of who you are. Often people who come to work with me seek support in resolving past trauma. No matter what brings you in, my goal is to offer a safe haven where you feel understood, confront your joys and sorrows, and get the support you need to develop a more full and meaningful life.

I believe in the wisdom of the body, it is constantly communicating something to you, and your emotions are the messenger. I want to help you become an expert at your own body language so that you can heal what has happened to you, and make room for the truth of your soul, by learning to listen to your body's deepest desires.

I've created a unique, multi-disciplinary approach that addresses issues in two or more of these areas simultaneously using evidence-based, cutting-edge modalities such as IFS (Internal Family Systems), Brainspotting (for trauma and anxiety) and EFT ( Emotionally Focused Therapy) for relationship challenges.
Thank you for visiting my profile. I feel honored whenever people allow me into their lives—especially when they don’t know me. As a therapist, my primary areas of focus are trauma, addictions, anxiety and relationships.

I am a psychotherapist working with individual adults and couples. I work with people in all kinds of situations, and I specialize in grief therapy and in supporting people with their relationship to money. My grief therapy clients have lost loved ones or are dealing with a different kind of loss, and use our therapy to make space in their life for grief—to express and process it, build skills and support to tolerate it, and learn from it. My money therapy clients come to me for support in moving their money behavior into alignment with their values, goals, plans, or wishes.

I am also trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and Gottman Method Couples Therapy and may integrate those into our work.
Are you struggling with relationships? Are you having the same fight with your partner over and over? Have you lost the emotional connection you used to have? Intimate relationships touch our deepest relational wounds. That's why we can be overwhelmed with the pain they bring and often, at points, feel like giving up. We can heal those wounds and help each other in that process. The kind of couples therapy I provide combines deep experiential work with teaching, coaching and practicing many specific relational skills that will set you up for success.

I use an integrative, strengths-based approach primarily informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy and attachment theory, Acceptance Commitment Therapy -- a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and a focus on values-driven action, neuroscience and somatic skills, and motivational interviewing.
If you are coping with anxiety, sadness, relationship conflict, stress, or parenting challenges I help you manage difficult feelings and reduce your suffering. If you and your partner can't talk without arguing, have lost trust, or lost the spark and want to connect we'll identify what's keeping you from being close and develop the secure connection you want. If you are having trouble getting pregnant or needing help from outside parties to create your family we'll work through any difficult feelings and explore your options for family building so you can make decisions that build your family and fit your values.

Additional training and certification: EMDR (level II +) a technique for treatment of post-traumatic stress; EMOTIONALLY FOCUSED THERAPY FOR COUPLES: Core Skills completion; MINDFULNESS TRAINING: a wonderful tool for learning how to use the mind to help manage depression, lower stress, balance reactivity, gain insight and work with obsessive, anxious thinking or addictive/compulsive behaviors.
I have been in practice in Burlingame for over 25 years, specializing in couples' therapy and the treatment of individual adults having problems with depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. These issues can be the result of poor self-esteem, stress, trauma or abuse, grief and loss and difficulties with relationships. Some people are at higher risk for depression and anxiety because of their inherited biology as well as their learned patterns of thought and behavior. I work with my clients to understand their unique situation, to set goals and to provide treatment based on evidence from behavioral science research.

My work is primarily informed by attachment theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
I believe the relationships with those we care about -family members, friends, co-workers, and romantic partners - form a significant portion, even a majority, of our lifelong happiness and sense of fulfillment. Our relationship experiences influence our self-perception, confidence, and feelings of security. Many of us seek therapy because we have difficulty identifying, understanding, or coping with our own (and significant others') emotional experiences, and we feel unequipped to communicate our feelings and needs to the important people in our lives.

I am trained in Hakomi, mindfulness-centered somatic psychotherapy, EFT ( Emotionally focused therapy) for couples and Somatic Experiencing (SE).
I am curious about the inner stories that make people who they are. I became more in touch with my inner story after being pushed towards therapy by challenges I faced in my own life. Through therapy, I learned that old beliefs are like knots, and therapy can help you untangle them. The key to understanding my inner story was to pay attention to the wisdom of the body. Our bodies can communicate things that our mind does not know; getting in touch with this knowledge helps us become aware of our emotions.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an approach to therapy that helps clients identify their emotions, learn to explore and experience them, to understand them and then to manage them. Emotionally Focused Therapy embraces the idea that emotions can be changed, first by arriving at or 'living' the maladaptive emotion (e.g. loss, fear or shame) in session, and then learning to transform it. Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples seeks to break the negative emotion cycles within relationships, emphasizing the importance of the attachment bond between couples, and how nurturing of the attachment bonds and an empathetic understanding of each others emotions can break the cycles.
