At some point we’ve all felt overwhelmed, confused or worried about a relationship, life decision or major choice we’ve had to make. Other times we experience sadness because what we wanted did not work out. Sometimes unfortunate things happen to us and no matter what we do, we can’t forget. We feel powerless, out of control and we can’t move on. What we all have in common is that we want to feel fully alive and connected to our loved ones and free of worry, sadness, anger and disappointment. We want to let go of the past and fully live in the present with hope and optimism for the future.

Some days it can feel like you're hopelessly trapped in an endless loop of struggle with no way out. When something bad happens humans cope in funny ways. Be it substances, relationships, television, sex, whatever makes the pain dull. You're stuck with yourself so what are you supposed to do when you've been turned against yourself? You're doing things you KNOW aren't working but you also don't know what's better. The judgement that comes with revealing this to anyone hardly seems worth the risk of another rejection. At the same time, you'll always be stuck if you don't risk that. So how are you supposed to ever find the way out?

Do you feel stuck and unable to move froward from past traumas? Are negative thoughts and beliefs about yourself keeping you from reaching your fullest potential? It can feel so overwhelming to begin to address your emotions and thoughts that you may rather want to 'turn them off' altogether. It can be exhausting to confront our traumas and isolating to begin to address these issues. When these traumas occur it affects our ability to self regulate our emotions. This often leads to unhealthy coping skills, negative thoughts, and feeling like we are constantly in a state of fight or flight.

Is your concern a relationship dilemma? A problem with a child? Substance abuse, anxiety or depression? Symptoms-physical, emotional, or social-are embedded in relationship processes in the family. The goal is to modify the process, which can lead to a reduction in symptoms. When one person in a relationship makes the decision to "show up" in a more deliberate, thoughtful way, the dynamic will change. Any motivated client can become that person. I will lend a hand in your effort through an understanding of relationships and how tension spreads through anxious systems, affecting groups and individuals.
