I have over 15 years experience in the mental health field, with a background in trauma awareness psychotherapy including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Somatic Therapy to support clients in understanding and regulating thoughts, emotions and behaviors.
Hi, my name is Kayla and my hope is to continue to support individuals in navigating the effects of daily stress and anxiety to more complex issues of depression and post traumatic stress disorder. Whether it's learning to understand our own mental health or just gain a better understanding of our own thoughts and feelings, I believe that each of us hold the ability to heal, and in doing so, find what helps us thrive. My approach to each session is to provide a safe space for clients to be at ease in the present and gain clarity while exploring, challenging and healing core wounds, values and behaviors.

I work with individuals navigating BFRBs (hair pulling and skin picking), ADHD, and neurodivergence, as well as other therapists and those in helping roles. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, sensitive, and self-aware, but feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves. I also support people during these times of overwhelm and collapse (activists, organizers, healthcare workers, healers) and those who feel deeply impacted by the world around them. My work centers understanding these experiences in context, not as problems to fix, but as patterns shaped by your life, relationships, and environment.

You’ve built a life that looks successful from the outside but internally, you feel exhausted, disconnected, or numb. You’re used to being the one who holds everything together, but lately it’s starting to feel unsustainable. Even when you try to rest, your mind doesn’t slow down. Something feels off and you can’t keep pushing through like this.

I integrate Somatic trauma healing interventions and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy techniques into my practice
If you're part of the LGBTQIA+ community, you've found a therapist who understands—intimately and empathetically—what it means to navigate a world that often wasn’t built with us in mind. I am committed to walking alongside Queer and trans individuals as we make sense of our identities in a cisnormative, heteronormative, and increasingly hostile political climate. Together, we can explore what authenticity means for you, especially in contexts that may not yet feel safe or supportive.

Is ongoing stress or anxiety impacting not just your mental health and relationships, but also your sleep, energy, or physical well-being? You may appear capable and composed on the outside, while internally feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected. Over time, these patterns can become deeply rooted and persist despite your best efforts. Therapy offers a space to understand them and create meaningful, lasting change.

My clinical work includes mild to moderate severities of mental health, somatic awareness, and energy connections for a mind-body-soul experience.
I bring home an integrative approach to your mental health and wellness journey. I am all about a trauma-informed care, but most importantly, I am your curious agent in navigating the unique seasons of life, transitions, and growth. I love meeting you where you are for a systemic, collaborative, and intuitive relational experience. You are the expert of your life, but sometimes we need additional resources, skills and support in facing the hard, challenging seasons rather its with grief, pain or negative cycles. I am not here to fix “what’s wrong with you” rather sit with you in the “what’s wrong for you” as you make new decisions.

I work with trauma survivors, especially those healing from sexual abuse, through compassionate, intuitive, somatic work, IFS, and EMDR.
You’ve carried so much for so long, maybe silently, maybe fiercely. My clients are often survivors of trauma, whether it be sexual abuse, childhood abuse, or other painful experiences. They’re deeply intuitive, yet feel disconnected from their bodies, parts, boundaries, or voice. They’re ready to shed survival patterns, reclaim their story, and reconnect with who they’ve always been. Healing starts with honoring all parts of you.

As a therapist, my passion is helping clients heal from self-abandonment and emotional dysregulation. Self-abandonment occurs when we struggle to stand up for our needs and live by our authentic values; often, we don't even know what they are. Those who struggle with self-abandonment don't feel like they know who they really are, and what they want, and often feel directionless and ungrounded. We feel small, afraid, anxious, aggressive and dependent on others.

If life is feeling overwhelming and your stress has taken on a life of its own, your most important relationship may also be suffering. Maybe you feel overwhelmed by your role as a parent or in your career, or perhaps you are helping care for your aging parents. Maybe past trauma or grief continues to block you from being able to feel secure in the world or to take in your partner’s care. Whatever the context, few things in life are more painful than feeling disconnected. I want to help you reconnect with yourself and the one you love most as you navigate through these painful and distressing situations.

My work is rooted in a trauma-informed, systems-informed, somatic and intersectional lens.
There may be times where you have felt alone or like you’re falling behind in navigating life’s challenges. My goal is to help you slow down, lighten your mental load and feel safe bringing your whole self into the therapeutic relationship from your strengths, your struggles, your humor and everything in between. Instead of taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I focus on meeting you where you are - while also helping you see what’s possible with genuine support.

I draw from approaches like EMDR, IFS, somatic, DBT, and more to tailor therapy to each person's needs.
Are you someone who feels stuck—caught between wanting things to change and not knowing how to move forward? Maybe you’re functioning on the outside while feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or at odds with your body on the inside. You might notice patterns around food, exercise, relationships, or self-criticism that you understand logically, yet still feel hard to shift. If you’ve experienced trauma, chronic stress, or pressure to “hold it together,” it can make sense that your nervous system is doing its best to protect you, even when it feels limiting.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
