I help people sleep better without medication, process trauma and grief, and build better relationships with food, particularly during major transitions like pregnancy or postpartum.
You've been in survival mode: overwhelmed, exhausted, and disconnected from yourself and the important parts of your life. You may be struggling to fall or stay asleep, dreading going to bed because your mind won’t turn off. Maybe the trauma you thought you’d moved past still shows up to haunt you when your guard is down. Some of my clients have been trapped in a binge-restrict cycle with food. Others are new moms silently struggling with the weight of constant pressure, "mom guilt," and rage. If you've been feeling stuck but don't know how to move forward, you're not alone, and you don't have to figure it out by yourself.

You might be lying awake night after night, exhausted but unable to sleep.
You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just need to be open to learning new skills and do the work. Whether you’re dealing with insomnia, anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, or OCD, CBT provides proven strategies for real change—not just talk, but a plan that works.

I tend to support people who are looking to start a family, may be struggling with postpartum anxiety, sleep or postpartum depression.
You’re exhausted from taking care of so many things all at once (isn’t that how it tends to happen) but when you stop to think of what you just did, even that seems like a blur. You’re on autopilot, stressed out and in your own head (which tends to be pretty negative). Life hasn’t panned out how you thought it would, and it leaves you feeling like it's just not enough. Like you aren't enough. And it's been hard to sit with all these feelings, so you keep pushing through it. But you're ready for something to change, because you’re tired of keeping up with people's "perfect" perception of you.

I also love helping people improve their sleep, as anxiety and problems with sleep often go hand in hand.
Why seek help? Maybe the better question is: Why continue to suffer? If you were suffering less, what would you be doing differently in your life? For better or worse, changes in our mental health impact how we function in our relationships with friends, family, co-workers, significant others and our ability to function effectively socially, in work or school. When under too much stress, we may communicate in ways that we later regret. When our relationships suffer, then we may suffer more. Therapy can help make meaningful improvements in all of these areas. Are you ready to get to work?

My specialties are in Insomnia and Sleep disorders, PTSD and acute trauma, and gastrointestinal health.
You may be emotionally, physically, or spiritually in a space in your life that you might describe as challenging, confusing, and/or uncontrollable. There might be different struggles, that somehow reflect a similar underlying process. Perhaps, one that involves fear, avoidance, escaping, 'trying so hard', and eventually feeling helpless. Though our struggles may differ on the exterior, the underlying process is what often reflects our perspectives and emotional health. Addressing vs resisting our challenges can deepen our confidence in our ability to work through them. Thus, creating the space for a calm and grounded experience.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists

How effective is treatment for insomnia?

The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?

There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?

There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?

Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
