When your sense of self feels tangled in family dynamics, past trauma, or the weight of others’ expectations, it’s easy to feel invisible—even to yourself. Many of the teens and adults I work with have spent years hiding parts of who they are to keep the peace or protect themselves. This can leave you questioning your identity, your worth, and your place in your own story. With an MS from California Lutheran University and a focus on trauma-informed care, I help individuals—especially those in the 2s/LGBTQIA+ community—begin to unravel these patterns and build more authentic, connected lives.

I offer in-person care on Saturdays and virtual appointments during the work week.
We choose our partners because the relationship brings us joy, connection, and safety. How do we maintain the good stuff as life gets more complicated? How do we recover from relationship hurts and regain the connection we desire? Whether as a couple or an individual, anxiety and fear can try to limit our choices. Worry can be difficult-to-control. A desire to avoid feeling afraid can lead to our world shrinking. Concern about the ways others evaluate us can make time with others much less satisfying. Together we can find ways to break free, claiming the life you've always wanted.

Many believe that my main responsibility as a clinical psychologist is to find what is “wrong” with people. While diagnosing is an important part of treatment it is far from the most important part. We will explore who you are, where you’ve been, and where you’d like to go. I treat every person like the unique individual they are. My strength-based approach focuses on what’s RIGHT with you and how we are going to leverage that to create the life you so desire. So, let’s get started.

I offer therapy in person in San Diego and online, making sessions accessible whether you're local or anywhere in California.
Do you ever feel burdened by the belief that you’re “too much” or “not enough”? Do you get caught up in self-doubt and self-criticism, or experience anxiety in your relationships? Maybe you carry pain from the past, question your identity, or feel torn between who you are and the cultural or family norms. These struggles can create tension between being yourself and maintaining relationships. As the child of immigrants, I understand how the expectations of others can shape your sense of self. Many of the clients I work with have felt the same way. Therapy offers space to navigate these complexities and deepen your self-understanding.

Depression, anxiety, and ongoing stress can make it difficult to understand why certain patterns keep showing up in your life. Many people sense something isn’t working but struggle to see how their inner world and external environment interact. I earned my MSC from the University of Phoenix in 2009, and my path into therapy grew from my own healing journey as a young adult and the clarity that process brought into my life.

I believe that change is possible for everyone, no matter their circumstances. Whether it is anxiety, depression, grief, relationship troubles or things that seem like no one could understand, there is hope in that struggle. Therapy can be a powerful tool to experience lasting change in whatever it is you are going through. I try to take a unique, holistic approach by blending psychological tools with a somatic perspective. This creates a process that is more experiential in nature, which I believe is an important building block for change.

FAQ - About Telehealth Therapy
Is online therapy as effective as in-person?
Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?
One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialized therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.

Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?
Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.

Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?
The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
