I provide a relational, collaborative, depth-oriented approach, integrating Narrative, Somatic, and Psychodynamic therapies with parts work and mindfulness tools.
Do you find yourself moving through life on autopilot? Functioning, showing up for others, but feeling empty, restless, or unseen inside? Many of my clients describe feeling like they’ve carried the weight of responsibility for too long, often putting the needs of others before their own. Over time, this can lead to exhaustion, disconnection, and a quiet questioning of who you are and what you truly need. In therapy, we create space for you to pause, feel, and reflect. Our work together is less about “fixing” and more about uncovering the deeper layers of your story.

"To the world you may be one person but to one person you may be the world"(Author unknown). When we are facing daily challenges in our lives, it can be difficult to see that we are loved, have a positive mindset, be grateful, feel good about ourselves, smile or have the motivation to do things which can negatively impact our daily functioning and relationships with others. My hope is that through therapy you will learn how to overcome these obstacles in order to become the best version of yourself and realize how important you are in this world.

You may get up in the morning and go to work and look like you have it all together to the outside world, but on the inside you are dealing with more than people know. You may be powering through day to day, but you need a space that is empathetic, private, and safe for you to let your guard down. Are you feeling high functioning anxiety that won't shut off, emotional overwhelm, the weight of depression, or grief / trauma that has not been attended to? I work with self-pay clients who want the confidentiality and freedom to go deeper than insurance-based therapy often allows. I do give super-bills for insurance reimbursement.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
