Childhood trauma can cripple us, it creates overpowering ‘intense’ emotions such as anxiety, depression, and anger when left unattended which begins to create physical symptoms to defend our bodies from the internal wounds. Has there ever been a time in your life where you have experienced this reaction? Are you experiencing these feelings based on current or past trauma from childhood, early teens, adolescence, adulthood, or as a senior? I aim to utilize a variety of actionable techniques to help reduce trauma related symptoms and make lasting changes in life.

You might be the strong one, the fixer, the one everyone leans on... but inside you’re exhausted, anxious, or just not feeling like yourself. That’s where we come in.
You don’t have to hold it all together here. It's exhausting. Be you and let us help the best part of you shine!
We’re a group of real people who also happen to be really good therapists. We’re not going to stare at you blankly or ask, “And how does that make you feel?” on repeat. We actually care, we’re not afraid to be human in the room, and we know that healing happens when you feel safe, seen, and not judged.

As a therapist, my passion is helping clients heal from self-abandonment and emotional dysregulation. Self-abandonment occurs when we struggle to stand up for our needs and live by our authentic values; often, we don't even know what they are. Those who struggle with self-abandonment don't feel like they know who they really are, and what they want, and often feel directionless and ungrounded. We feel small, afraid, anxious, aggressive and dependent on others.

I'm able to accept patients covered by Kaiser SoCal, but please note you'll need a referral from your primary care provider first.
Hi, I’m Max, a San Diego-based licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), practicing since 2017. I have experience in multiple models of therapy, most extensively Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I like to work with people through periods of self-discovery and growth, to craft a personal narrative that feels grounded and real. Whether this is gender transition, relationship changes, grappling with a new diagnosis, or understanding effects of past experiences, it has to make sense to you in your own words.

Psychotherapist and Educator/Instructor - Kaiser Permanente Psychiatry (2000-2022); currently -Adjunct Faculty at a local college.
Insight Care Counseling: The beauty of this -our shared life’s journey- is that we can aspire to embody its greatest gifts -love, fulfillment, clarity and peace. And yet, at times, we encounter challenges and changes that bring forth feelings of stress, depression, anxiety -or numbness and disorientation. And it is often at these junctures that psychotherapy can help; for in essence, the therapeutic journey is about finding richness even while in the land of disenchantment … and healing even while walking through pain.

I accept Medi-Cal through San Diego County and Kaiser Permanente Northern California.
I was born in Brazil and have lived in the United States for over 20 years, an experience that has given me a deep appreciation for how culture, family, and life transitions shape who we are. I understand how difficult it can feel to balance expectations, relationships, and your own needs. Sometimes we get lost in roles, responsibilities, or family patterns that no longer serve us and it can feel overwhelming, lonely, or confusing.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, my focus is on creating a safe, compassionate space where you can pause, breathe, and explore your inner world.

Kaiser Permanente (KP) is an integrated managed care organization. Unlike many insurance companies, KP owns and runs hospitals and medical facilities and employs doctors, nurses and mental health workers.
The professionals listed here have self-identified as accepting Kaiser insurance. That does not necessarily mean that they are employed or in-network with Kaiser. It may simply mean that they can work with you, as an out-of-network provider, if your KP plan allows.
Please confirm when you make an appointment that the you select serves your benefit plan. Or learn more about your options by visiting Kaiser Permanente here.
