The approach I take with individuals, couples , and families is based on Attachment Theory and Emotionally-Focused Therapy.
I am fascinated by the affects of attachment and bonding on interpersonal relationships and have a deep commitment to helping people articulate and address the core issues with which they struggle. I am currently working towards my PMH-C (Perinatal Mental Health Certification), as I am passionate about supporting women and families experiencing fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, pregnancy/infant loss, TFMR, grief, adoption, and parenting. I am a a mom who struggled with postpartum anxiety and OCD with both of my pregnancies, so I know firsthand how shameful and isolating these experiences can be.

JOIN our waitlist for May 2023! Our therapists use a nervous system informed approach to therapy, specializing in helping adults, individuals & couples , nurture conscious & satisfying complex relationships with themselves, others, & spirituality. These adults want to create a consistent inner knowing of the reality that they're woven into the fabric of the universe, a knowing that translates to a more satisfying, connected, and complex life. We believe being disoriented from this inherent interconnectedness, which is often caused by nervous system dysregulation, is at the root of most mental health challenges.

I believe that some of the ways people developed to cope with difficult experiences in early life no longer adaptively serve them; therefore, I help clients gain insight into those patterns and develop new ways of being in order to make positive changes. I also deeply value the impact that family-of-origin and culture have on identity development, interpersonal relationships, and how one views the world. My dissertation focused on examining the relationship between academic stress and physical health symptoms. I have a specialty in working with adolescents, college-aged students, and young professionals.

Hello! Thank you for visiting! Families, couples , and individuals typically come to see me due to stress, trauma, and grief, all of which end up impacting connection to self and others. My therapeutic efforts aim to enhance relational attunement and secure attachment. I find, building internal and external resources, managing stress, grieving losses, and increasing tolerance for big emotions as primary ways to be helpful. Individual work can often be very fruitful, however, I conceptualize relationally and often encourage you to extend our efforts into more connection within the relationships valuable to you, including pets!

I am a trauma informed therapist, and my number one goal is for you to feel safe and secure in our counseling relationship .
Welcome to my practice! My specialty areas include trauma, relationships and body image issues. As a queer and neurodivergent therapist, my passions include working with the LGBTQIA+ community, and neurodiverse clients (ADHD, autism, other neurotypes). As a neurodiversity affirming provider, I see all neurotypes as equal, and not an issue that needs "treatment". Rather, it is a process of finding your way back to yourself and who you really are. Additionally, I work with the ethical non-monogamy, polyamory, and kink/BDSM community. I work with both couples and individuals and enjoy working with all relationship structures.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
