Hey there! Thank you for being here. You’ve worked hard to build a successful life — but inside, you might feel weighed down by anxiety, self-doubt, or old wounds that keep resurfacing. Maybe you’re caught in cycles of overthinking, people-pleasing, or burnout. Or in your relationship, you keep running into the same fights, feeling unseen, or struggling to bridge cultural and generational differences. You don’t have to carry this alone.

If life is feeling overwhelming and your stress has taken on a life of its own, your most important relationship may also be suffering. Maybe you feel overwhelmed by your role as a parent or in your career, or perhaps you are helping care for your aging parents. Maybe past trauma or grief continues to block you from being able to feel secure in the world or to take in your partner’s care. Whatever the context, few things in life are more painful than feeling disconnected. I want to help you reconnect with yourself and the one you love most as you navigate through these painful and distressing situations.

My clients are adults who are accustomed to handling a lot on their own but have reached a point where they are ready for focused support. You might be navigating a demanding career or family life while feeling privately overwhelmed, downcast, or disconnected. I often see people during difficult life transitions or "seasons of confusion" where anxiety, grief, or past trauma make it hard to feel steady. You are likely looking for a space that is honest and productive, where your values and faith are respected as we work toward moving you forward.

I’m Alex! I’m a queer therapist who believes our identities, experiences, and values shape who we are and how we move through the world. I care deeply about supporting people in building lives that are authentic & aligned with what truly matters to them. Many people I work with are exploring questions around identity, belonging, and what it means to live authentically in a world that can make that complicated. I also believe it’s important to acknowledge the larger systems and pressures we’re all navigating, and therapy can be a place to process the anger, grief, joy, hope, and resilience that come with living in today’s world.

You didn’t get to where you are by accident—but you still don’t always trust your own judgment. You reach career goals, support others, and look like you’ve got it all together, yet still feel stuck in self-doubt, burnout, or emotional patterns you thought you outgrew. I help high-achieving women untangle the perfectionism that leads to overwhelm, the fear that blocks boundaries, and the relationship struggles that leave them feeling alone—even when they’re not. I have a special interest in helping women who are seeking to turn their adhd into a superpower rather than a saboteur.

I have a passion for coming alongside others and believe it's just part of my DNA as a human being. 25 years ago I began my career as a medical assistant and a teacher. In my late-20's I enlisted in the US Navy, where I served as a first responder and was part of the Sexual Assault Victims Intervention team. I've lived overseas with kids in tow, and have a deep understanding of the effects of betrayal, infidelity, and cross addictions. I've worked as a Hospice Spiritual and Bereavement Coordinator, a counselor at several crisis houses and transitional living centers, as well for non-profit agencies providing therapeutic services.

I use trauma-informed and attachment-based approaches.
Parenting with anxiety, trauma, or strained marriage adds a weight that makes parenthood feel insurmountable. We wipe our own tears, pick up our mess, and keep going because that’s what moms are expected to do. You may feel emotions deeply, struggle with the constant demands of caregiving, or carry the relentless "mom guilt" for not enjoying this season or feeling present with your child. You love your family, yet you feel stuck, tired, or unrecognizable. The pressure is suffocating, as parenting standards today are unattainable. But I believe your kids don’t need perfection. They need the healthiest, most honest version of you.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of California. I completed my Masters in Social Work from the University of Southern California (USC) with an emphasis in Military Social Work, and received my Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley. I'm also a combat veteran, and I've experienced some of the darkest of days during my time in service (was overhead the shootdown of EN 17). My goal as a therapist is to help people navigate through their toughest moments in life and to restore hope when it seems like it no longer exists.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
