I help restore relationships that are stuck in negative cycles and renew parent- teen relationships that are struggling.
If your relationships or life circumstances have you feeling stuck, anxious, or depressed, I can help you by providing a safe environment and some guided exploration of your strengths, options, challenges, and needs. I'm very good at helping you determine what is under your power to change and what is something to accept, grieve, and learn to live with. Whether it's a failing relationship, children with disability, or your adolescent has pushed you to the end of your rope, I bring hope, humor and comfort as I walk along side you as you find solutions, peace, and direction.

As a parent or caregiver, you've noticed a change where your tween, adolescent or teen just isn't the way they used to be. Their smile is gone and they're more to themselves, stressed, unmotivated, anxious, sad, or angry and you know something has to change. You know they often feel misunderstood, are quiet, sensitive, don't easily trust adults, or have seen so many therapists they couldn't make progress with and you're not sure they will open up. You need someone to connect with your teen , join their world, and support them in regaining happiness and stability to meet their goal of having a happy, hopeful and successful life.

Every child is unique. To help children overcome social, emotional, behavioral, developmental, and/or academic challenges, we can't be preoccupied with simply signing labels. Rather, we need to identify a child's individual strengths as well as their weaknesses in order to design effective strategies that suit their needs. We work closely with parents, schools, and other professionals to establish a comprehensive picture of the whole child. It's from this highly individualized approach along with the collaboration with those that know the child/ teen well, that we are able to create the most significant and dramatic change!

Teen Therapists
Adolescence can be a time of both disorientation and discovery. The transitional period can raise questions of independence and identity; as adolescents cultivate their sense of self, they may face difficult choices about academics, friendship, sexuality, gender identity, drugs, and alcohol.

Most teens have a relatively egocentric perspective on life; a state of mind that usually abates with age. They often focus on themselves and believe that everyone else—from a best friend to a distant crush—is focused on them too. They may grapple with insecurities and feelings of being judged. Relationships with family members often take a backseat to peer groups, romantic interests, and appearance, which teens perceive as increasingly important during this time.

The transition can naturally lead to anxiety about physical development, evolving relationships with others, and one's place in the larger world. Mild anxiety and other challenges are typical, but serious mental health conditions also emerge during adolescence. Finding a teen therapist in San Diego and addressing a disorder early on can help ensure the best possible outcome.
