My approach helps people identify unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, most commonly associated with feelings of depression , anxiety, and interpersonal conflict, and provides people with tangible skills that enable you to think and behave in ways that promote inner confidence, strength, and achievement of goals.
The best approach to mental well-being is simple: consistent, incremental change coupled with healthy thoughts leads to a more satisfying life. Changing the way we act affects the way we feel and the way we view ourselves. When working with me, you are guided towards intentional living and healthy thought processes. You are given a blueprint to follow that takes the guesswork out of change. You’ll be given straightforward instruction that enables you to create a better life for yourself! By focusing on changing your behavior instead of analyzing emotions, you can more quickly find relief, and start living well.

Hi there, I'm LuAnn, a licensed clinical social worker. I have been in practice for over 20 years. I help individuals with issues like depression , anxiety, relationship issues, aging, life coaching, and more. I utilize CBT, IFS, Therapeutic Tapping for anxiety, EMDR, and supportive and empowering treatment modalities. One of my goals is not to create blame but to open up to self-compassion as a way to move forward. I help people explore their past as a way of providing information that will help you create new possibilities. The past does not have to define you; your actions, dreams, and hopes will move you forward on your journey.

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) who specializes in eating disorders, trauma, depression and anxiety. Emotional pain is very real and there are times recovery seems unattainable. Don’t lose hope. Healing is achievable. Further, finding the right therapist is extremely important. Studies have shown the therapeutic alliance between therapist and client proves to be a stronger determinant of clients’ success than the modality of therapy practiced. I am an experienced therapist who provides the space for vulnerability and transparency without fear of judgment or rejection.

Since 1985, I have successfully helped clients change their feelings of depression and anxiety into emotions of satisfaction and joy.
If you feel pain, you want it to stop as quickly as possible. You want to start healing NOW. Yesterday would be better. You want to stop fearing the Future, and start enjoying the Present. Once you see that there are new options, armed with new tools and skills, you can recreate the world you live into one you choose. Feeling sad sometimes is human, feeling sad all the time needs to change. Feeling anxiety and dreading the future is also human, but not healthy. Nowhere in life have you been taught how to transform these feelings, but your decision to enter therapy will teach you how to heal your pain.

Therapy for those wanting to break free from old patterns. Do you feel like you’ve been struggling with the same cycle of emotions for years and don’t know if it will ever get better? Have you ever felt like your problems aren’t “bad enough” for counseling? You may be highly functional in some areas of your life while below the surface you are struggling with some heavy feelings.

Sometimes, the more you try to hold it together on the outside, the more you fall apart on the inside. If you are overworked, anxious, depressed , or broken down from trauma or stress, you're probably striving to get back on your feet, catch your breath and regain control over your life to find peace and balance again. It happens to all of us and even the strongest can get knocked down. It's not a weakness to ask for help, but the greatest sign of courage.

I truly believe we all have the resources within us to grow and heal. However, there are times we become "stuck" in life and overcome with fear or other factors. I am passionate in working with children and adults in helping them recognize deeper/underlying issues or past traumatic experiences that can impair a person's function each day in various ways. I specialize in anxiety, depression , PTSD, and complex trauma (Ie physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, DV, life adjustments, grief/loss). I am trained in EMDR, a research-based treatment that facilitates the brain's own capacity to heal.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
