Are you battling anxiety that feels like it holds you back from experiencing a full life? Or perhaps you're dealing with a loss that feels too heavy to hold. Or maybe you're in a relationship that is not turning out quite like you had planned or hoped? Whatever brings you to this page, I'm here to help walk with you. “Your problem is how you are going to spend this one and precious life you have been issued. Whether you're going to spend it trying to look good and creating the illusion that you have power over circumstances, or whether you are going to taste it, enjoy it and find out the truth about who you are.” ― Anne Lamott

Although I can address a wide range of problems, my special interest and expertise focus on those who are struggling to manage anxiety, depression, grief / loss /abandonment issues, addictions and life transitions.
I am a licensed psychotherapist focused on working with adults and elders (65+). I work with clients to help them be better able to manage life's challenges, increase self esteem and improve communication skills. In my work, I favor a holistic approach, where all aspects of the person - mental, emotional, behavioral, physical - are addressed, and I employ a blend of psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral and mindfulness methods, to enable people to learn to shift their thinking, change their behavior, and live in the present with a more balanced life, and a deeper sense of well being.

I have experience working with a variety of issues, including grief & loss , end of life, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, anxiety, and a variety of relational dynamics.
I believe that your voice and expertise should be held at the same level as mine, so that together, we can create a map of treatment that aligns with who you are and the change you want to see. I value authenticity, empathy, and equality, and strive to uphold these notions in the therapeutic relationship. I also find that a real and honest connection is one of the most powerful vehicles for change, so with that in mind, I enter our work with a great deal of care, humility, and gratitude.

I am fascinated by the affects of attachment and bonding on interpersonal relationships and have a deep commitment to helping people articulate and address the core issues with which they struggle. I am currently working towards my PMH-C (Perinatal Mental Health Certification), as I am passionate about supporting women and families experiencing fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, pregnancy/infant loss , TFMR, grief , adoption, and parenting. I am a a mom who struggled with postpartum anxiety and OCD with both of my pregnancies, so I know firsthand how shameful and isolating these experiences can be.

I am specializing in motherhood, be that through adoption, IVF, grief , & loss , or selecting termination.
Here is what I believe: Everyone needs an objective person to help support and guide them through life’s challenges, transitions and hurdles. I believe the most important aspect of therapy is a trusting, nonjudgmental, and compassionate relationship with your therapist; therapy should feel safe, and provide you relief. I enjoy working with people from different background to help them discover their true self and overcoming the obstacles that may obscure their journey to happiness and self-fulfillment. I utilize humanistic mindful approaches to support wellness.

Some of the areas that I work with include: anxiety, trauma, grief and loss , recovery from sexual addiction, and family of origin issues.
Clients who work with me will find an inviting and collaborative environment where they can bring their “whole” self, the “messy” parts included, and engage in a process to better understand their stories and contexts, while receiving practical suggestions to support their experiences both during and outside of therapy sessions. I enjoy working with clients who wish to get unstuck from repetitive, troublesome, or self-defeating patterns of relating to themselves, others, or their world.

My belief is that unless we get to the heart of the matter of whatever is causing your grief , solutions will only go so far. My approach is holistic; helping you heal core insecurities that are causing you this grief . I use a combination of approaches including cognitive behavioral, psycho dynamic, inner child, and humanistic modalities to help you see how your past is impacting some of your difficulties today. By facilitating a process of becoming aware, I will help you relinquish unconscious beliefs that are holding you back and identify what you need to make change.

I understand that the road to parenthood does not always go as planned. It may include difficulty trying to conceive, pregnancy and/or birth complications, pregnancy loss , or rough postpartum periods. It can bring up some unexpected feelings like crying frequently, feeling overwhelmed and depressed, feeling disconnected, feelings of guilt/blame, having scary thoughts, lack of support, relational challenges and general difficulties with adjustment to pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum periods.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
