I bring decades of lived experience as a member of the LGBTQIA + community, as well as clinical training and experience to complement my whole-person approach to therapy.
What part of your life is most impacting you? If you answered sexuality, then let's talk! I specialize in issues regarding sex and sexuality- there can be issues of shame, abuse, discrimination, judgment, confusion, and secrecy- and I would love to help you define what your vision of sexual health looks like and feels like for you, your partner, and your family.

I specialize in serving the LGBTQ + community, but my experience has allowed me to work effectively people from many different backgrounds.
It is my belief that every person can benefit from therapy at some point in their life. It can be helpful whether you're working through a specific, short-term problem or changing long-standing patterns of behavior, adjusting to an unexpected life change, gaining clarity about decisions or life goals, increasing self-confidence or self-realization, improving communication, or becoming more effective at regulating difficult emotions.

We are all continually moving through different spaces trying to establish who we are and what is important to us. Adjusting to these environments can be especially difficult if who you are is not embraced, whether it is within your family, at work, in the military, in a social group, or faith-based community. As a member of the LGBTQIA + community, I am an advocate for underrepresented individuals and communities, and try to be affirming to those struggling with being accepted or understood. Therapy can be a space to better recognize your needs, your values, and how to cope more effectively.

I work especially with Latiné, Jewish, and/or queer individuals to navigate the obstacles unique to these lived experiences.
Identity issues can cause intense feelings of isolation preventing so many people from living the way that they yearn to. This is especially true when there are layers of addiction, difficult relational patterns and past traumas. We become so much stronger when we face these things with an unconditionally present ally.

Welcome to my practice! My specialty areas include trauma, relationships and body image issues. As a queer and neurodivergent therapist, my passions include working with the LGBTQIA + community, and neurodiverse clients (ADHD, autism, other neurotypes). As a neurodiversity affirming provider, I see all neurotypes as equal, and not an issue that needs "treatment". Rather, it is a process of finding your way back to yourself and who you really are. Additionally, I work with the ethical non-monogamy, polyamory, and kink/BDSM community. I work with both couples and individuals and enjoy working with all relationship structures.

I am a transgender therapist embarking on my own personal journey to transitioning.
I think we all can have a time in our lives where we reach a problem or a series of problems and are faced with the question of "how do I get through this?" or "what should I do?" Regardless of what brought you to that crossroad, therapy is a useful means to help you figure out what to do next. Your time is important and your life is meant to be full of happiness. We all are transitioning from something and have to make the choice about what is best for us. Live your life and enjoy it.

As a gay male therapist, I strive to act as a resource for queer couples looking to deepen their bond with one another.
We as people understand life through our relationships, our experiences, and through the meaning we derive from those experiences. Together, I work with couples and individual clients to recognize their stuck patterns, cultivate strategies to enact change, and engage in actions to create a preferred way of living. I aim to create an accepting and non-judgmental space for clients, where we explore the goals they wish to work on. In couples work I aim to help you and your partner identify the cycles of conflict you may fall into, and how to turn toward each other in these times to foster healing, comfort, and deeper connection.

I find great joy in working with many from diverse backgrounds: Communities of color (specifically African American/Black folks), and LGBTQIA +.
Searching for a space where you can just be you? Sometimes life can present challenges that make it hard for us to simply exist as who we are. As your therapist, I will provide a space that is both comforting and non-judgemental. Here we can work together to help you explore unique aspects of yourself that can help you address hardship, live as the fullest version of yourself and a life that feels satisfying for you. My approach to therapy is client-centered, compassionate, collaborative, curious and rooted in the idea that you have the capacity to re-story and improve the reality of your life.

LGBTQ+ Therapists

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
