I am a certified domestic violence counselor for those requiring court-mandated treatment, with a specialty in addressing domestic violence,
anger management
, and relationship challenges.
Relationships are incredibly complicated, and relationship issues can have profound impact on your quality of life. If you are having difficulties in your current relationship, or if you are trying to understand past relationship struggles, I am qualified to help you. I work with couples and individuals engaging in high conflict, affairs, issues of past trauma, parenting, depression, anxiety, substance addiction, divorce, or criminal concerns.

Some of the most common conditions I see include depression, anxiety, transgender issues, relationship problems, attachment issues, self-esteem, and
anger
problems.
My name is Dena Webster; I am a licensed clinical social worker. My goal in providing therapy is to make a difference for everyone one day at a time. I meet my clients where they are and consider their whole environment when identifying issues and resolving them. My approach to therapy is eclectic; I incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and coping skills. I realized that having someone to talk to and a safe place to say the hard things was helpful. I also noticed I have always been that friend everyone talks to process their problems.

Making the first step towards change can be intimidating and a daunting task. Best that we talk first about getting the right client-therapist fit. For our youth, now more than ever the anxiety, avoidance, irritable moods and
anger
issues, and grief are showing up in ways that seem impossible to deal with. My approach is to first make the connection, then to help the young person clarify positive and measurable outcomes, and soon after develop the self-confidence to embark on that difficult mission to make things better with parent support. Working with kids 8 to 80 is a pleasure, a challenge, my mission. All things are possible!

I am committed to use my extensive experience and the effective skills I have developed throughout my professional career in mental health to help you feel better in a short time. I have a deep understanding of why we end up suffering or are stuck and unable to get to that state of well-being we all deserve and are capable of achieving. Sometimes one just needs a little help from an expert. At a minimum, my aim is that you leave having more insight into what the problem is and how to resolve it. We can do the rest together or you can try on your own. I am confident that you will not regret the experience.

I am a MFT student trainee. My ideal client would be someone who is going through major life shifts that has created curiosity around their self identity and questions around their confidence in all aspects of life. Someone who struggles with anxiety and depression who does not feel as if they are "enough" and are having difficulties maintaining healthy relationships around them with a partner/s, friends, and family. Their goal would be to feel a sense of security within themselves exploring the stories and patterns that have led them to have these belief systems that are not supporting their best "Self".

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
