When we create an authentic and positive therapeutic connection, we can explore your
family
of origin, process lived experiences, make discoveries and small shifts in behavior, and try on new thoughts that better serve you.
Courage, dear heart, as life will present you with surprises and in time, you will manage each one with bravery. Our families can push our boundaries; our relationships can challenge us; and our careers can stretch us so thin. Negative self-thoughts can keep us in our heads and repeating old patterns can feel like a roller coaster of emotions. Past traumas can intrude our present; social injustices can break our community down; and gender and cultural inequalities can be an exhausting battle. Our self-care can plummet and suddenly we are not our first priority. However, you are leaning in today and making an investment in YOU!

Being addicted to alcohol or drugs is like being in a dark pit where you do not know what is up and what is down. It is cold and lonely, and you can feel hopeless about finding any escape. Being the
family
member of a loved one who is struggling with addiction is scary and can leave you sad and in a constant state of uncertainty. You are always asking yourself why is your loved one pushing aside the life ring you toss out and grabbing the anchor of drugs and alcohol over and over and over again. You see they are drowning and feel you cannot save them. Addiction is insidious, but there are paths to recovery.

I work with those struggling to live with the effects of trauma and challenging life experiences who are desiring to work through past and present
family
issues in the midst of anxiety, depression, and other issues such as healing from abuse, assault, and neglect.
I am passionate about supporting women and teens facing the challenges of life in a way that helps them find sustained change. It is hard to live in this world and not question if our bodies, stories, and voices are “good enough.” We wonder if it is possible for us to be okay with who we are, and make different choices than we’ve made in the past. We often make decisions that are rooted in insecurity, leaving us trapped in anxiety. I value helping women learn to understand and respect their whole story on their own terms. Together we can define your own goals for change.

I work with couples and individuals by collecting information related to the
family
of origin, personal values, and unique life experiences, that allows me to understand my clients and offer strategies for healing and growth.
I help clients mend their broken hearts and calm their overactive minds by joining them in their journey towards deeper self-awareness through kindness and compassion. I whole-heartedly believe in the beauty of each person's unique perspective, and at the same time, gently encourage clients to be mindful of the universal human experiences of love and loss. Thus, providing comfort while helping clients explore issues that are difficult or painful. My creative and empathetic approach can assist clients in breaking a repetitive mindset by allowing them to gain new perspective through fresh insights, support and empowerment.

I provide tele therapy for individuals, and couples for CA residents. I do not have a physical office in CA. I also offer treatment for trauma.
In today's world we are all finding that after working full time there isn't enough time to eat right, exercise, take care of errands, help the children with homework, and spend quality time with your significant relationships. What we end up with is exhaustion, feeling "burned out", anxious, and maybe even depressed. You are not alone.
Don't suffer any longer. It's time to address your issues and get your life back.

In addition to my clinical work I am a trainer with Triple P America, teaching clinicians how to work with parents struggling with behavior problems with their children and work with service members and their families as a Military
Family
and Lifestyle Counselor.
The strongest person is the one who knows when to ask for help. Everyone struggles, but why do some people handle life's challenges so well? My goal is to help my clients have a happy and fulfilling life. What this means is clearly different from person to person. My aim is to identify the behaviors that are keeping this from happening, implement these changes, practice them in real life and moving on. I am a short term-solution focused therapist. The more you do outside of therapy, the faster you can achieve the changes you desire.

You are tired of spending all day every day worrying about food and your body. You pick yourself apart in front of the mirror and never feel good enough. On the outside, you are a high achiever and it looks like you have it all together. But on the inside, you feel trapped and spend all your time thinking about food, how your body looks, comparing yourself to others, and feeling insecure. You isolate yourself from
family
and friends, to be alone with your anxious thoughts and wonder if you will ever feel comfortable and at peace with your body. You just know that you cannot continue to live like this and feel this way.

Is life not turning out the way you thought it would? As a kid, you couldn’t wait to grow up, but now you are feeling disappointed and unprepared as you enter this next stage of life. A surge of panic floods your body when people ask you what you want to do with your life. Exhaustion has become your norm as you juggle all your responsibilities- school, work,
family
, friendships, dating. You want to truly belong in your community, but your relationships feel superficial as you long for more meaningful connections. Some days, self-doubt swallows you whole and you wonder, "Am I good enough?”

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
