Life can often feel overwhelming. Many of us have developed patterns of thinking, feeling and connecting to help us get by, but are finding that they may no longer be helpful. I work with clients who generally feel stuck in their lives, anxiety, depression , past, or circumstances. I also received specialized training in health psychology and help those looking to cope with chronic illness or seeking to improve chronic pain or insomnia. My clients learn to show up to life in a meaningful way, while learning to choose effective behaviors when faced with stressful situations. This is a collaborative process that is unique to your personality and needs, and the relationship we create. My clients strive to be defined not by their circumstances, past, thoughts or feelings, but by the choices they commit to.

Do you feel like you are “too sensitive for the world around you?” Are you fine one moment and then overwhelmed with emotions the next? Maybe you’re in a “good” relationship, but can’t stop wondering whether it’s right for you. It can feel scary and lonely when it seems like your life is going well on the surface, but underneath there is a different reality. Many of my clients live with trauma, anxiety, extreme stress levels, and depression . They manage to expertly float through life finding “success” while feeling empty and depleted. The good news is that the skills that have helped you come this far are already in place.

Hello and Welcome. I have over a decade of practice in individual, adolescent, and couples therapy. I specialize in treating mood or anxiety difficulties, trauma, childhood trauma, chronic pain and illnesses, relational difficulties, life stressors, or life and identity transitions. My passion is to help you breathe freely; experiencing relief, resilience, self-compassion, and increased emotional freedom. We often learn strategies through life to keep us safe, but those strategies may hold us back in our present. It is in our relationships that we learned these strategies; it is through a therapeutic relationship that we heal.

Without vulnerability, there is no growth. Sometimes our "own stuff" influenced by family generations and personal experiences get in the way of our healing. It is intuitive for us to defend against such vulnerabilities for protection and at the same time such defenses do an outstanding job of stunting our growth. Where's the balance? This is the reason I believe therapy is about creating a safe environment where one can feel comfortable to show their true selves, while also challenging the parts that seem to perpetuate this cycle of stuck-ness.

If you're ready to put yourself first for a change- call me. I am passionate about supporting black female entrepreneurs and high achievers to release self criticism. If you feel like you have been driven to tackle your goals by being hard on yourself and want that to change- let's work together. Many of my clients notice that the way they relate to themselves is by being critical and judgmental. Sometimes this starts from a trauma, anxiety/ perfectionism or a critical care provider in childhood. Whichever the cause is for you we can get you to a place of being at peace with yourself.

Life can feel chaotic. Whether you are considering your first time in treatment, continuing or returning to treatment, my goal is to provide you with the platform and skills to effectively evaluate, identify and create solutions to help you. It’s important to remember that therapy is not always about ‘fixing’ a problem. Sometimes, it is about learning how to work with the problem by creating awareness, strengthening insight, developing or broadening skills you already have. It is a joint effort between the therapist and the client, working together, to impact change and bring balance to what may otherwise feel out of control.

Life experiences can impact us in surprising, often difficult, and even traumatic ways leaving us feeling out of touch with ourselves and those around us. We all have a desire to feel understood, and that journey often begins within ourselves. My goal in therapy is to create a space where you feel heard and safe while we explore deeper into who you are and begin to wrestle with the question “where do I go from here?”.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
