Each meeting expands my approach to finding solutions to human problems. It's my pleasure to help people enhance their quality of life, improve stress management skills, and renew their emotional resilience, whether the challenge is one of relationship, health, or performance. I have skills in cognitive and health psychology, biofeedback, and hypnosis to aid in rapid progress toward goals. Learning how to quickly gain self-control of one's mind and body easily increases confidence and improves mood. Because I'm focused and active in my work, clients often find my approach refreshing and rewarding.

Welcome to my page! I want to honor your courage in making it to this step in your therapy journey. At some point all of us will experience brokenness, and our past may leave its marks. I like to think of healing through therapy like Kintsugi—the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. Instead of hiding the break, the gold honors its uniqueness and makes the pottery stronger than it was before. Like Kintsugi, our true beauty can be shown in the way we fill our cracks to help us heal. Our flaws and wounds make us who we are, and by honoring them through our restoration in therapy, we become stronger people.

Hello, I'm Lori, welcome to my profile page! Working with families has always been a passion of mine. Since 1994, I have worked with families with the goal of facilitating effective communication and emotional health. It's not easy growing up in the Bay area today. I grew up on the Peninsula and it is a totally different world now for our kids. I have two teenagers myself, and the pressure they feel to succeed sometimes feels insurmountable! I lead several teen groups. Teen groups provide a safe place to come and talk about those challenges.

Pause and imagine what life could feel like if the past no longer dictated your present. Imagine permitting yourself to grow in new directions, breaking free from painful relational patterns, and no longer suffering in the pursuit of success or achievement. I help adults and couples struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship challenges. Many of my clients are high-achieving professionals feeling stuck, disconnected, or exhausted. Others are navigating trauma, loss, life transitions, or questions of identity, seeking clarity and relief. I believe everyone can unlock their innate capacity to heal and grow.

The decision to begin psychological treatment is very courageous. It is essential to research your provider options and select a psychologist who feels 'right' to you. I have over 25 years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. I specialize in helping people who want to increase their understanding of self; address areas of thinking, feeling, or behaving that cause pain or confusion; change behavioral patterns that interfere with emotional well-being, interpersonal relationships, and professional performance; and build relationships which are responsible, respectful, effective, and mutually satisfying.

Has infidelity, betrayal, an affair, hidden contact, or another boundary crossing left your relationship too unstable for slow, week-to-week work alone? You may be in crisis after discovery, still stuck months or years later, or close to divorce because trust, truth, accountability, or emotional safety never fully returned. You may have tried therapy before, promised to move forward, or attempted to “get past it,” yet the same triggers, shutdown, questions, defensiveness, resentment, or distance keep coming back. When the rupture is this deep, couples often need more structure, more time, and a clearer repair process.

Personality Disorders Therapists
What are the common treatment options for personality disorders?
Personality disorders are typically treated with psychotherapy, sometimes in conjunction with medication. Therapy can help people with personality disorders develop skills to tolerate difficult emotions, navigate interpersonal relationships, and solidify their sense of self. Medications can treat symptoms that co-occur with the disorder, such as depression, anger, aggression, and impulsivity.

When to seek treatment for personality disorders?
Even though treatment for personality disorders can be an uphill battle, it’s best to seek help if you suspect that you or a loved one is struggling with one, because personality disorders can create substantial problems in life. Symptoms depend on the specific disorder, but overall signs of personality disorders include consistent difficulty maintaining close relationships, dramatic variations in self-esteem, and an unstable sense of identity.

How long does therapy take for personality disorders?
The timeline for treating personality disorders isn’t as clear-cut as it is for other disorders. Change can be difficult, taking from around one year to five, 10, or more. The key is finding a therapist who has extensive experience treating the relevant disorder. For example, a psychologist who specializes in narcissistic personality disorder has specific communication strategies that allow them to sustain the relationship and be more effective with narcissistic patients.

Can therapy help people with personality disorders?
Research suggests that for those who are motivated to address concerns or interpersonal conflict related to a personality disorder, therapy is far more effective than no treatment, and that most people in therapy see improvements. However, since personality disorders involve entrenched elements of identity, they are less responsive to treatment than are other mental health conditions. Finding an expert who has extensive experience working with a given personality disorder is one factor that increases the likelihood of successful treatment.
