Be it wrestling with unresolved trauma, anxiety and/or depression, relationship challenges, and/or parenting issues, my therapeutic goals are tend to explore effective ways to adjust to change and discover acceptance of past experiences.
As we evolve through life, we are faced with challenges and new roles that may make us feel inadequate and uncomfortable. It is not uncommon for a person to feel stuck or lost during this time. For the past 25 years, in an educational and therapeutic setting, I have worked along side adults, and couples /families to help create effective ways to tackle such challenges. When we negatively question our self-worth and strengths, it is time to develop productive ways to break old patterns and see through a truthful lenses.

Hi! I’m really looking forward to meeting and welcoming you to a safe, accepting space where you can share. Being a human is hard! And parenting humans is tough too! When we're triggered all over the place and when we're scared, it's hard to be in an authentic relationship with others. But when we take care of ourselves, when we really understand ourselves, then we can show up in our relationships in ways that lead to more connection, which is what we all want.

If you're feeling stuck and need support to find a better way of coping, I can help. If you're feeling grief, anxiety, or depression, I can listen and bring some supportive tools. Working with a past trauma can bring feelings of hopelessness, overwhelm, and anger, We can work to make a plan to change thoughts and behaviors that keep us all stuck. I am a parent and a classroom teacher also, so I can help navigate the school-family relationship , and offer some support about parenting frustrations, interpersonal conflicts, and stress around parenting. I work with youth often and really understand how tough that period of time is.

I have over 10 years of experience, specializing in working with transition-aged youth (ages 16-24), adults, and families that struggle with trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, substance misuse, among other life challenges that people may face.
Welcome! What is a mosaic? It is little imperfect pieces of glass or tile that come together to form beautiful art. How can we create a mosaic within ourselves and in our lives? All the broken pieces of glass or tile can represent trauma, experiences, life journeys, parts of our self, etc. that we sometimes don't necessarily know how to understand them all to incorporate them into our sense of self. I have a passion for working with people to help put these pieces together in a way that creates the beautiful mosaic that is YOU!

Who doesn't need therapy? Therapy is unique. It is a safe space where you can be completely who you are. Within the therapy relationship , you are able to say things that you have bottled up, you are given opportunity to identify your blind spots without judgment or shame, and you are able to attune to what you really want in life. I am a big believer in hearing your own voice, getting in touch with your values, and making decisions that align with what is important to you.

I create a safe and nurturing therapeutic space for adults, couples & teens who are facing major life transitions such as college, career, divorce, or personal loss in finding a joyful and fulfilling path forward. I also provide empathetic guidance to the “sandwich generation” – women and men who are raising children while also caring for their elderly parents and struggling with anxiety and depression as they attempt to juggle it all. I help families navigate the complexities of raising children, adolescents and emerging adults in a healthy, cohesive way.

Relationship issues, depression, anxiety, and trauma are my specialities.
Why is it always easier to beat ourselves up than to say loving and empathic things to ourselves? I believe that we are comprised of multiple "parts" and that sometimes our negative parts are so loud, we have trouble connecting to our self-compassion. It can feel easier to perpetuate personal stories of unworthiness than to locate our strength. In my practice, I know that regardless of their pasts, everyone deserves compassion and the support to rewrite painful stories. It is easy to forget that moments of happiness are not the same thing as having meaning and purpose in life.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
