I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 15 years of experience. I see children, adolescents, and adults in individual therapy who are struggling with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety,
relationship
struggles, life cycle challenges, trauma/abuse and many more. People cope with and try to manage their past and present to the best of their ability. However, at times it can be overwhelming and may also create additional barriers as people often outgrow their coping skills, or their skills and tools are simply no longer working for them.

I work with teens and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, life transitions, disordered eating, assertiveness/boundaries, self-criticism, and family/
relationship
conflicts.
Do you feel like nothing you do is right or do you have to put yourself last to ensure everyone else in your life is taken care of? Maybe you’ve been struggling with self-criticism or setting appropriate boundaries with yourself or others. Life is hard enough without us getting in our own way. You deserve to live a life that is in line with your values or priorities; a life filled with joy and success, however, you want to define it. I help people learn to see their potential and use their strengths to change their lives. I also help people learn to live in the present moment and to find peace in the current situations they are in.

Life sometimes throws you unexpected challenges that can make you feel overwhelmed, anxious, and hopeless. If you are struggling with life challenges that are impacting your quality of life, I am here to tell you there is hope. Loss is often one of our biggest life challenges that trigger mental health issues. Grief is a natural response to loss, whether that is a loss of a
relationship
, job, or death of a loved one, it can also bring up thoughts and feelings of past traumas. Processing and learning about loss and grief and what to expect when grieving can help you grow and heal.

Are you feeling depressed or anxious? It may not be easy to find someone you trust. I have created a safe and empathetic environment where you can learn some new coping strategies, and how to let go of unhealthy
relationship
patterns. One of the reasons it may be hard to let go is because of past trauma. Research has found the longer trauma, depression and anxiety go untreated the worse it will get. I practice from the heart and with empathy. You can learn to put yourself first. I don't mean this in a selfish way. You can create balance in your life, have fun and have healthy relationships. You can also learn healthy self-care.

All of us have those moments in life where we finally "get" something, those times when everything finally makes sense. As a therapist it is a pivotal moment in the therapeutic process, as a parent it can be very rewarding to see this occur for your child, and as an individual, it can be the difference between getting stuck in a bad place and moving forward in your life. I work with individuals, children and
couples
who are facing life's stressors and are looking for the tools to improve the quality of their lives.

Marriage and relationships are challenging and it is even harder to ask for what you want. Often people believe they are broken or their desires are shameful and I work to create change and facilitate communication. As a licensed psychotherapist, specializing in sex therapy, I work to help individuals, partners, and
couples
to connect. It is my passion to heal shame, have the hard talks, and facilitate communication. Personally, I know the challenges of maintaining the passion in a long term
relationship
and I don't believe it is normal to give up on intimacy.

No matter how difficult your current situation seems, I believe that it is always possible to get back on track and feel better. Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
