Are you, or your child, struggling with ADHD, sleep problems, anxiety, depression, Traumatic Brain Injury, PTSD, Autistic, Attachment or Neurodevelopment disorders?
You have a natural capacity in life for attention, focus, engagement, happiness, ease, relaxation and sleep. For many, neurofeedback is all they need to realize that potential. It can also provide the missing ingredient to realizing the fullness of their therapy, personal development, exercise, or nutrition programs.

I also conduct evaluations when there is concern that a medical condition (such as TBI, seizure, or stroke) is impacting thinking skills.
If your child struggles with peers, attention, school, or mood/ anxiety, I can provide a comprehensive neuropsychological assessment to help you learn what is going on and what next steps to take. This assessment answers questions related to concerns for ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, or medical conditions. The goal is to figure out how to best support your child! In some cases, your child may already have an IEP or 504, but you feel they are not getting all the support they need or you do not understand the results. In these cases, a comprehensive evaluation may help.

I have experience utilizing EMDR when working with clients with Traumatic Brain Injuries, Stress disorders (PTSD, ASD), and anxiety disorders (panic attacks, phobias, social anxiety).
As a trauma-informed therapist with Kindred Heart Therapy Group, I choose to use a collaborative, respectful, and non-pathologizing approach which seeks to highlight an individual’s many abilities, values, skills and beliefs that are often overlooked when problems take control of their lives. I aim to create a safe space for my clients while they navigate through their unique journey of healing and growth. I am also passionate about social justice and invite sociopolitical issues into the therapy room while remaining curious as to how these impact individuals, couples, families and/or communities. I look forward to meeting you!

Evaluations can identify a range of diagnoses, including ADHD, learning disabilities, developmental delay, dementia, TIAs, TBI, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, and Autism spectrum disorders.
I offer both therapeutic and diagnostic services. In therapy, clients who benefit most are motivated to work toward change. They seek to improve their moods and progress toward their goals, whether related to relationships, careers, or health. I’m committed to a practice centered around empathy, caring, and acceptance. I believe establishing deep connections with clients leads to helping them achieve their goals. I also supervise an unlicensed psychologist who specializes in working with children and adolescents. She helps them improve family and peer interactions, handle emotional challenges, and master self-control.

I provide therapy throughout California by video/telehealth. My approach to therapy is interactive, playful and compassionate. I enjoy helping others to discover themselves and overcome challenges. Most clients come to me seeking a better understanding of themselves and a desire to feel more resourced. Many clients feel overwhelmed by body sensations or memories that they dont know how to manage. I most enjoy working with individuals who are ready to heal and are open to self-exploration.

Great risings! I am excited to be a person of interest for your self development needs. As a proud father of two wonderful young men, I'm aware of the challenges faced by most parents, professionals, service members, veterans, coaches, teachers, and leaders. Life can be challenging, and in time of crisis it is always comforting speaking with someone down to earth and empathetic enough to hear your concerns.

As James Baldwin famously said, "not everything that has been faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed unless faced", I also offer you the following poem: "When we feel safe, anything is possible. We become unstoppable. Because we have a firm ground to launch and a safe ground to land. We can then stand. Voice ourselves, show ourselves. Life becomes a dance." With over 15 years of experience carefully providing integrative therapy (e.g., CBT, EMDR, ACT, IFS, EFT, Mindfulness, biofeedback, neurofeedback) and therapeutic assessments, I am excited to work collaboratively with you!

I often work with people who grapple with hard questions to which there is no one "right" answer. I offer a non-judegmental atmosphere in which each person can seek his or her own answers. Therapy is a co-creation. I work with each person to find what "speaks" to him / her. That may include talking, mindfulness practices, or creative arts therapies. Using these methods accesses parts of the brain that can't be reached through words alone, and puts people in the flow of their wisdom and creativity, from which solutions to problems can emerge.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Therapists

When should someone seek treatment for a traumatic brain injury?

People should seek a diagnosis and treatment after a head injury, especially if they were unconscious, and an early diagnosis can lead to a better recovery. Signs of a concussion include headaches, nausea or vomiting, exhaustion, dizziness, vision problems, sensitivity to light and sound, problems with attention and memory, brain fog, unusual irritability or sadness, and unusual sleep patterns.

What’s the most common treatment for a traumatic brain injury?

Treatment for a traumatic brain injury will be different depending on the severity of the problem. For mild injuries, treatment may involve rest and over-the-counter pain or headache medication. For moderate or severe injuries, treatment may involve stabilization, medication, and rehabilitative therapies such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, cognitive therapy, and counseling.

How long does it take to recover from traumatic brain injury?

The recovery time for a traumatic brain injury depends on the individual and the severity and nature of the injury; the length of time spent unconscious is often an indicator of severity. Recovery time for mild injuries may be a week or two while recovery time for more severe injuries may be six months to two years. Research suggests that the vast majority of recovery occurs in the first two years after an injury; recovery after that time frame is less certain.

What if a traumatic brain injury is left untreated?

If a traumatic brain injury is left untreated, it can lead to long-term physical and mental health problems. Physical problems may include dizziness, headaches, vision, healing, or speech loss, and an elevated risk of dementia. Psychological problems may include impairments of memory, judgment, and decision-making, depression, aggression, poor impulse control, and personality changes.
