While I have experience working with all ages, my true passion is working with teens & young adults in the following areas: self-esteem, food and body image issues, boundaries, and life transitions.
I believe that valuable therapeutic work can only be done with a strong and trusting relationship between client and therapist. I work to create a safe and comfortable environment in which you can truly show up as yourself, and know that you will be accepted and seen just as you are. My approach is warm and authentic. I want therapy to be so much more than me sitting in front of you and asking “...how does that make you feel?” If you’re interested in integrating art, play, movement, music, sand tray, or spiritual practices into our work - let’s do it! We all deserve to take up space in ways that feel good.

You or your family may be feeling stuck. You want things to feel better, but you’re not sure where to begin. Whether it’s supporting your child through big emotions or behavioral challenges, navigating changes in your family, or trying to reconnect and feel more confident as a parent or caregiver, therapy can be a meaningful first step toward lasting change. My goal is to meet families where they are and help them move toward where they want to be. I work best with children, parents, and families who are motivated to grow, even if they feel unsure about what needs to change.

Our lives are a story, one that encompasses all that we've been through; the twists and turns, the trials, the triumphs, the moments of joy, the moments of pain, all of them completely unique to us. They are filled with characters; family, friends, lovers, and even those who impact our lives without us even having to meet them. Sometimes it feels like our story is being told for us, that we are simply a passenger in it's unfolding, it may even seem like our attempts at trying to take back the role of author can seem futile, pointless even. But here you are, looking for help to reclaim your story, and that is the first step.

I believe our mutual job is to work together to help you find the best ways of dealing effectively with your problem. Sometimes, although we may know the answers to our problems, we have never been taught the skills to implement that knowledge. Part of my job is to use my expertise and education to teach those skills. For example, we may realize we are being misunderstood by others and work hard to be understood, but no matter how hard we try, nothing changes. Teaching communication skills is one of my areas of expertise that may prove useful.

Are you tired? Feeling worn out from wearing too many masks? Maybe there are some underlying behaviors/emotions that don't seem to make sense and you want to understand more? Or maybe you're feeling exhausted because you can't seem to connect with someone who actually "gets it", which doesn't mean they're terrible people, because they do their best & they're endearing when they try, but they just don't seem to fully understand. It's hard trying to navigate life and all the complexities. There are parts that we love, other parts that we dislike.. This can cause to act in self-sabotaging ways - lashing out, trust issues, isolating.

Through connection, empathy and a non-judgmental approach, I offer ways to help you discover what may be blocking you from finding your true path in life. By not seeing an individual for what symptoms they have or what is affecting them, I am more interested in helping you find what is the cause of symptoms, how to work with them and better manage them. I provide a safe space for anyone who is looking to improve their lives, build better relationships with family, friends or partners and learn to let go of the things that are holding you back from your goals.

Do you want to feel like you want to be on a permanent vacation? This feeling can speak volumes to how much stress you are under on a regular basis. Everyday life has become something that you would love to escape from for awhile instead of something you look forward to each day. When your day feels like you just live to get through the hard things it becomes more difficult to know how to change. What’s missing is the enthusiasm, connection, and true joy. Maybe you have reached our limit and something has shifted. It feels like now is time to stop going through the motions and start living fully.

Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
