“Change Your Thoughts and You’ll Change Your World”. My goal is to offer and provide support within the therapeutic relationship that allows for you to gain insight on discovering your needs. I believe everyone needs support but struggles with how to ask for help. In my practices I provide the time and space for you to feel heard, supported, and most importantly I provide empathy. Empathy is a powerful word as it defines the ability to sense other people’s emotions, coupled with the ability to imagine what someone might be thinking or feeling. I always try to create a warm, heartening, and empathetic environment with every client.

I am a trained facilitator of Parent Project, a comprehensive parenting class for parents of children ages 11-17.
Who am I? I've been married for 20+ years. My wife and I have a teenage son. I'm personable, friendly and like to laugh. I talk and ask questions. I won't sit silently and wait for you to talk. I won't say, "How does that make you feel?" I've been told that I'm a "normal guy." Who are you? Someone who wants to feel better? Or wants your teenager to talk to someone? Or wants to be happier and more secure in your committed relationship? Let's keep it simple and work together to find solutions.

I specialize in parenting issues, family issues, developmental challenges, children who are victims of trauma, phase of life issues, and grief and loss.
Making the decision to talk to someone about your "problems" can be very scary and anxiety producing. What people often don't realize is that it is a very courageous step toward a more fulfilling life. I encourage my client to not only talk about their "problems" but to talk about what they do that "works". I believe that unlocking your true potential will help you to make choices that are different.

If you are struggling, you’re not alone. You're feeling anxious, uncertain about the future, possibly depressed, stressed out, or having a low mood and energy. Balancing the stressors of work, relationships, and physical pains has been challenging. Your life has not been the same since your baby was born. Not every mother's journey is free of challenges. I provide support to women that are faced with infertility, loss, grief, birth trauma, parenting NICU babies, medically ill children, or children with special needs, perinatal mood & anxiety disorders, adjusting to motherhood, and partner conflicts after becoming parents.

I’m a licensed therapist ready to meet you where you are at in life. I can help you process traumatic experiences as well as navigate frustrating systems we all encounter that are supposed to help, but at times seem to do more harm than good. I have supported many clients in responding to crises, such as supporting families through a divorce or death, and creating a safety plan in response to the experience of suicidal ideation. If your child is struggling at home or school, I am trained in several parenting approaches, have three kids of my own, and have extensive experience providing services in schools.

I currently have limited availability for online coparenting cases only. My practice specializes in high-conflict matters including the treatment of high-risk behaviors, and high-conflict family problems within and outside of the family and criminal court systems. The process of reunification and co- parenting is complex and therefore, I do not bill insurance for these services. I offer these services in-person in CA, but also strive to reunify families from Nevada and Oregon as I am licensed in all three states; telehealth is used in most cases.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
