I specialize in working with OCD , social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and PTSD.
I work with clients who have social anxiety, shyness, and feel awkward and out of place. They want to feel better about themselves and their circumstances. They may have been through a difficult childhood and trauma and abuse. They are motivated to get better and want to speak to someone who is nonjudgmental and compassionate. Clients have opened up to me about their deepest traumas and secrets that they have not shared with anyone else. I feel honored to be part of my client's journey and help them to find solutions. I have a strong client centered approach blended with a CBT intervention based approach.

I believe that therapy is a powerful force in dealing with the emotions and difficulties that arise in daily life. It is my belief that in order for therapy to be effective, there must be trust between the client and therapist. Drawing heavily on humanistic theory, I utilize a collaborative, integrative approach to psychotherapy. I use strengths-based interventions to develop a strong therapeutic relationship and assist clients in the process of healing. I have training in the treatment of depression, anxiety, obsessive -compulsive disorder, substance use/abuse, self-esteem issues, and trauma-related symptoms in adolescents, adults, and veterans.

I'm a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety, OCD , depression, and relationship problems.
Now offering teletherapy for clients in the Sacramento area. If you struggle with anxiety or depression, you know how difficult it can be to cope. Anxiety is easy to recognize. We worry more, avoid difficult situations, and feel tense, awkward, or ineffective. Depression feels exhausting and hopeless. We judge ourselves and others harshly, feel intense sadness, and become passive. It can feel like we can't do anything right or that things never go our way. Imagine being more active, skilled, and competent, communicating more effectively in relationships, being more productive at work or school, and feeling more satisfied with life.

I specialize in the treatment of all anxiety-related disorders, including OCD , Social Anxiety, and Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake. After developing a treatment protocol at the Intensive Program level that was the first in the nation to integrate mindfulness-based Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ("ACT") with Exposure Therapy in the treatment of OCD , I am continuing that work in private practice. My focus is on helping people respond differently to the physical sensations of anxiety, get some space from "sticky" thoughts, and to return to the present moment.

I specialize in working with children, teens, and adults who are looking for evidence-based therapy for anxiety disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ( OCD ), and trauma. Anxiety and trauma can take away your feeling that you are capable and that the world is a safe place, and as a result, your world can become very small. Working with a therapist can help you or your child to deal with traumatic or anxiety-provoking experiences, try out more effective coping skills, and focus on achieving your goals.

We specialize in ketamine and esketamine (Spravato, a form of ketamine) for depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD here in Sacramento. Ketamine is a cutting-edge, evidence-based treatment backed by science. Cleveland Clinic calls ketamine a "top ten medical innovation” and Johns Hopkins calls it "groundbreaking therapy" and the first (truly) new treatment in 60 years. Ketamine increases neuroplasticity and helps your brain to grow new synapses, allowing your brain to heal. Ketamine doesn’t have the side effects of traditional mental health medications, and it works fast. People often start to feel better after the very first treatment.

I practice each intervention through distinctive situations my clients may experience when living with trauma and mental health which can develop symptoms of depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, and co-occurring addictive disorders.
Childhood trauma can cripple us, it creates overpowering ‘intense’ emotions such as anxiety, depression, and anger when left unattended which begins to create physical symptoms to defend our bodies from the internal wounds. Has there ever been a time in your life where you have experienced this reaction? Are you experiencing these feelings based on current or past trauma from childhood, early teens, adolescence, adulthood, or as a senior? I aim to utilize a variety of actionable techniques to help reduce trauma related symptoms and make lasting changes in life.

I also have experience with individuals facing depression, anxiety, life transitions, relational issues, OCD , and attachment struggles.
Sharing our inner experiences with someone can often feel frightening, which is exactly why I place such an importance on connection and acceptance in the therapeutic process. I aim to create a safe environment that will invite my clients to delve deeper into their personal narrative, as I truly believe we are not built to process emotions alone. As humans, we all have a propensity to grow and become our true selves, unfortunately we aren’t always gifted with the circumstances to allow it. I am passionate about creating a space for not only self-discovery and self acceptance, but to allow clients to feel seen, heard, and valued.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

OCD is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
