I hold an Associate
Marriage
and Family Therapy license and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor in California.
My philosophy is that therapy is a team approach, and I view myself as a fellow traveler walking alongside my clients on their therapeutic journey. I believe that we all deserve a place where we can explore our thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental setting. People's thoughts, ideals, values, and opinions are important to them, and I offer a therapeutic environment that allows individuals to explore these without bias or judgment. In addition, I have a deep passion for helping individuals explore life transitions at any stage, as well as those suffering from depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, and relationship issues.

Are you a woman whose life looks “good” from the outside, and yet it still feels like something is missing? You’ve accomplished a lot in life, but don’t feel the sense of fulfillment you expected. A big life change—maybe a breakup, new job, new
marriage
, change in family dynamic, or move—has highlighted the fact that you’re still not as happy or content as you want to be. Something is telling you that you need to make a shift (even if you’re not quite sure what it is). You want to gain deeper insight into yourself & your past experiences, and you’re ready to change your “default setting” and start creating new patterns in your life.

You are not alone and I believe that developing these coping skills is the key to living a successful life, and in turn will strengthen your self-esteem, relationships,
marriage
, parenting and everyday life! .
Try as we might, sometimes happiness and contentment always seem just out of reach. Depression, anxiety and stress can make getting out of bed in the morning a daunting task. Troubles in your relationship or conflict in the family can make you feel helpless or overwhelmed. You don’t like yourself and never feel good enough at work or around certain people. Maybe you just can’t quite put your finger on exactly what is wrong, you just know you don’t want to hurt anymore.

The therapeutic journey begins internally by listening to the heart when it tells us there is a need for change in our lives. Second is having the courage to admit when we need outside support to begin this change, and finally being bold enough to use our voices to seek out the assistance of a therapist. Therapy with the right therapist can be helpful to everyone. my preferred theoretical approach is client-centered. A client-centered therapeutic approach allows me to meet my clients where they are at and together develop the appropriate path forward. Other theoretical approaches include; CBT, DBT, experiential, & psychodynamic.

Giving yourself a space dedicated to self-reflection is so helpful. I work with adolescents, often highly accomplished adults, and couples in my practice. I help clients meet their own goals by building a strong relationship, encouraging reflection, and exploring alternatives. I am warm, engaging, and well trained. In my work with clients, we look at the influence of a client's family-of-origin, their current stressors and challenges, and the relationship that unfold between the client and myself. I assist my clients to work through their challenges, so they have more choices to live a more authentic life.

Marriage Counseling Therapists
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.
How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.
Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.
Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
